Look again, you will find a fourth one.

The more you do this, the longer it will be before you have to start the second edition.

I know, I have been there and done that!

None of these involve the written word yet. All of it is formatting or color correction of some color photos. So, I appear to be doing well after 9 edits. But, I won't give up!

Printers love to screw up captions and footnotes.

Heck they even will switch figures and tables for the fun of it.

Microsoft Word loves to switch figures and tables for the fun of it.

Much to my annoyance...

Ever try to do an index? Ever try to put a caption next to a figure instead of below it? Etc......

Word is up to Version 12 already - you'd think they'd have figured all that stuff out by now!

And considering Microsoft copied Wordperfect 5.1 to make MS Word 1.0, it's even more shameful that they can't get it right!!!

Well, I don't have Word 12 yet Kirk. My version was bought with the computer when I started the book, as my old computer was dying. So my word is only 11.823 whatever that means. The print shop converted the book to a PDF file for their work, and I had just downloaded Open Office the week before in anticipation of the change.

At this time, the book has a good table of contents but no index unfortunately. Word wrap around pictures and graphs is absent, but then this give me the opportunity to make the pictures and graphs large enough to see all of the detail. There are tradeoffs. I have had to leave blank spaces on pages so that the figure and caption remain locked together on the same page. Word separates them otherwise. I remember using Describe and it would even size the image in inches or centimeters to comply with WYSIWYG. It was a very good word processor but has now vanished.

I've never used it, and it's probably a bit too late for the suggestion, but the open source world has a program called LaTeX that is often used in the text formatting of acedemic books. Iy can handle equations and other layout issues much better than Word from what I understand.

Thanks Kirk. That is overkill for me. I guess open office might be good. A happy medium but again too late. Maybe for the 2nd edition or Volume II.

I agree with Kirk , Latex is very famous in mathematics world.

The first batch of books has shipped. The book will be available from the Formulary in MT in the US and from Fotoimpex in Germany. It should be available within 1 - 3 weeks. I have enough books on-hand to supply the total number that said they were going to buy it, plus some cushion. I can get more if needed.

Thank you all for your interest.

Enjoy.

That's great!! Congratulations!!

So can we get autographed ones from the Formulary or do we need to get them from you directly?

Special order from the Formulary or from me, either one Kirk. Right now I just sent them straight copies with no autograph.

This is outstanding news, PE. Congratulations and thank you for publishing it!!!!!

For some reason my mind almost immediately concluded this had to do with applying limits to multiplication tables... 0415 is a bit early in the morning to think clearly...

I've never used LaTeX but I am a BIG fan of open source, for the record-

When will autographed copies become available?

I can send you one as soon as I have your order! Two weeks max from the Formulary. I'm not sure about Germany but at least 2 weeks due to customs.

PE

I haven't seen it listed on formulary, or am I missing something? I clicked on labware/bottles->Books.

How do I place an order for an autographed copy?

The box of books may be in transit to them. I sent it to them one week ago. Have patience. It will be there.

PE

Where are these orders coming from Ron?

I'd have placed one by now if I knew where or how.
