Is the LED light set up to print with VC filters? I have a Durst SM 183 and this would make it an 8x10 enlarger for B&W.

Do I understand it correctly? You'd send me the pieces to convert a 138 to 8x10 (along with instructions for the conversion)?

regards,
chris

I bought a set from Claudius, it works perfectly. The LED's produce a lot of light! It's very easy to assemble if you can handle a screwdriver & hacksaw. @Luis: VC-filters work fine. I use a Rodagon 240mm, if I'm not mistaken Claudius has a (or some) suitable enlarging lense(s) for sale as well.

hello Jeroen,
how nice to be hearing from you again, and thank you for answering most of the questions from other members.
also glad that i can add yet another happy user of my conversion to my list.

swchris,
yes you get all parts you need for converting your durst 138 / 139 into a full working 8x10 enlarger.
i am also giving you info on how to assemble - is actually very, very easy, like jeromen just said.
and the price is 440 euro, i had to raise it a little due to highter expences to the new, and far better, producer of the parts for the conv.
i belive postage to Germany is around 30 euro

Can you ship to Japan. If so,how much should I pay. Please let me know the total amount. In Japan.the voltage is 100V. Do I need some adapter to convert the power? And what enlarger lens for 8x10. I have 210mm Nikkor Enlarger Lens. Do you have the manual for setting up?

hi pontarou
thank you or the interst in my 8x10 conversion.

in the moment i am out of converters that works from 90 V and up to 250v.
i have 230 volt in stock, if you are in ahurry, you can eventually convert it to 100v ?!
time of delivery for coverter is around 6 weeks.

the lens is 240 mm
210 mm will give a very large enlargment but you get fall off in the corners, ok for center of negative.
(postage to tokyo is less than 100 euro) - i can not say exactly until i am making the paperwork, and i need your postcode too.
very easy installation,, you get the info with the kit.

by the way, i have just finished a new 8x10conversion for Beseler 45 (4x5")
comming for sale after proper testing this summer.

hi boon
i am not familiar with the 184 model, but there is a chance for making an adapter board for the 184 as well.
looking at photos it seems that the under part on which the head rests, is of similar construction as the 183S / G139.
i need some more informations , please send me message.

what type of light head do you have now ?
if the bulb , the fan, the heat - - is the problem, i have made a LED conversion instead of the
two 1000W halogen tubes i have in my BWL 300 light head with the same light output as 2000W halo - extremly bright and no heat and silent fans.
i got tired of the noise from the double fan and the heat in my darkroom.
if you have a light head of CLA 300 type ( or BWL 300) with reflector lamps on a flat plate that slides in two rails , my led conversion will fit nicely after disconnecting the original wire.
just a thought.

kindly
klaus

hi claudius,
The 1500W lamp is not working on my L184
I have dismantled it and removed the light bulb and heavy box above the condensers.

What is left is a gaping hole above the 380 condensers. Dimension for adapting cold light source on top of condensers is 329mm x 295mm

Do you need more info?
Thank you
boon

hi boon
it is quite difficult for me at distance to make a reasonable lightbox for you, as i said, i am not familiar with your L184 and have no acces to one.
if you can make the box yourself, i can ship the light panel to you.
my standard panel is 5mm alu plate at 240x280 mm in size and works on seperate led driver,
if this is not working for you i can make one in size for you.
i think it is possible to convert one of the condensors into a light box, but then i need you to send me two without the lens.
i have seen it done in fora. the condensor is not necessary as the light is diffused from a separate diffuser in the lower condenser slot.

How do you use VC filters with this? Below the lens? Would a filter drawer right below the LED be possible?

Hello
Funny you should post this question
I just spent yesterday and today putting together a DIY contrast filter solution for the Beseler 4x5 to 8x10 conversion enlarger by our friend Cladius
In place of the normal negative carrier I put in a drawer
I then clam shelled the contrast filters between some cardboard
and there you go, a filter drawer for the 8x10 conversion enlarger
Are are some pictures that hopefully show what I am talking about

Dan -- Happy user of the Beseler 4x5 to 8x10 conversion

I just received my kit. Is ANR glass not needed? Assembled on the enlarger, just the soldering left. Looks great and feels good quality. There is some flex in the base plate however, will use clamps as a temporary solution.

i have had a email conversation with saus.
for information if anybody else has same issue:
occasionally the durst film holder bay is not in line ( parrallel) to the head carrier ( where the 8x10 kit is mounted)
simply place a suitable "O" ring under the carrier ( the large stainless plate ) and adjust until the carrier rest flat on the black19mm / 3/4" fiber adapter plate.

i had the problem with my old 138S and this little trick makes the job.
