Well spotted, Tom. Like you I wonder how they do it as well. I note it is under "Clearance". Until I followed the backing paper issue on Photrio I'd have bought this like a shot but now I wonder if it's "Clearance" because it is old stock and is part of the "dodgy" batch?

Note that Fuji Provia in 120 is as well on the same price. As someone who doesn't shoot large quantities, the included postage in some items allows for small purchases. Bummer is they don't ship to my current location, but I'll order some when I head for a family visit next month.

Kodak will give you new film if you have an emulsion # that matches the bad batches. I shot some with those batch numbers and had no problem. Others did, tho'.

I’ve bought a lot of film from 7dayshop. Always a good service and price. Some items are sold VAT-free, such as the Delta 400 I bought last week. Not sure how, but I’m not complaining!

Bear in mind Jim that we are in the U.K. and not the U.S. I was always unsure how this works for U.K. buyers. The person whom you seemingly contact seems to be U.S. based. How do you do this and will KA send new film directly to my U.K. address?

If the film rolls have the faulty batch numbers, can you request and will you get replacements without having to prove that your roll is actually faulty by risking exposure. It sounds that way from what you have said but have you or indeed anyone else simply quoted the batch numbers without using the films to get replacements? If anyone has done this does KA give you a freepost address to send back the faulty batch number film?. If you have to use the films to see if the fault appears before getting replacement then taking the same scenes with fresh film unless it is a static scene close to your home is literally impossible

Thanks

Use the main Kodak Alaris contact at profilm@kodakalaris.com.
As I understand it, people outside of the US and Canada who contact Kodak Alaris through that (US based) email are referred to their local Kodak Alaris office, and the arrangements are made through them.

Yes, I know you're in the UK, but I'm assuming that KA would still honor it. I simply made a phone call and within a week, new film appeared at my door. I didn't have to send back anything, or email a receipt, they took my word for it. I'll provide a link and you can go from there. I know Kodak used to have a factory in the UK, but I don't know if this is true anymore. If it's still there, perhaps that might be the way to go. Thomas Mooney is the gentleman I emailed. The address is in the first post via this link: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threa...cking-issue-and-ektachrome-100-update.155668/

It's about that price on eBay most of the time, and not from dodgy overseas sellers either.

I've recently bought from them (late December,) 10 x Kodak Colorplus @ £25 and 5 x Fuji Provia 100 @ £27.

The Colorplus is dated 9-2020. The Provia is dated 7-2020.

I just assumed that those dates are on the short side, hence the lower price.

I bought a 120 pack each of Tri-X and TMY-2 from 7 day shop in September 18 also just under £25/e. Film packs were dated 11 and 12 .2019. Nothing dodgy about the film itself.

Dispatch is reliable and prompt. Film comes in one envelope per pack of 5. The packages were mailed from Embrach, Switzerland where there is a duty free inlandport, but I believe they are Guernsey based seller.

They also sell via ebay usually for 50p more.

So its a good price, but you can also feel guilty about not supporting bricks and mortar stores, which i try to do as well.

Yes. Its a Guernsey returns address. Also having looked at the package they also declare pricing on the packages at just below the UK £15 customs threshold... so its probably ex vat like Amazon used to dispatch music - However LVCR - (Low Value Customs Relief) was abolished for Channel Islands specifically ending that practice hence maybe use of Embrach.

I am sure a previous film came from Aaland islands (the C.I. of scandinavia)

Generally I would say stock is shorter dated than the best case, as little as 9 months on some colour film. So they may also be clearing older but not out dated stock for distributors as the best deals tend to be short lived.
