Back in the mid 90's there was a fellow named Jones that made circular brackets that allowed you to mount the bracket on a tripod and rotate from horizontal to vertical by loosening a knob on the front of it without any other movements of the tripod. I had one of those for the Pentax 6x7 and sold it to someone thinking they'd always be around. I used them exclusively in studio and weddings. They do still make them for 35mm but I don't know about the 6x7. If you had a flash mounted on top of the bracket you could rotate the camera without the flash moving.

Anyone know from whence I speak or have had/seen them? This is their 35mm bracket.

Well, so much for getting that bracket. I got a response today from them...

Thank you for your email. Several years ago Mr. Jones made a large circular bracket similar to the J-35 called J-1000, this bracket was used primarily

For larger format cameras. The circular ring had an opening of approximate 8 or 9 inches in the center. Unfortunately this bracket is no longer manufactured and

No replacements parts are available.

I am sorry we do not have any brackets that will support the Pentax 6x7 at this time. If you have any additional questions or if I may be of further assistance please

Email or call anytime.

Perhaps look at the link that I sent in an earlier post. I think it has the same rotate functionality that you want.
