When you modify the mounting plate like this, are you drilling through the original plate and bolting the home fabricated plate onto it? Or is there some other connection mechanism that I’m not understanding?

Hi There.

I'm removing the circular Leitz Plate, and replaced it with the block of aluminum. It's easy to drill and countersink some steel screws I bought at Lowes. Or maybe I used the original screws, it's all good. I use the pictures in Shulman's Book as a guide. In my shop I have a Lil Machine Shop Machinists Band Saw (useful for precisely cutting small blocks of Aluminum, and a Craftman Drill Press.
