Looking for an LTM lens in 35mm for my Barnacks. A Summaron f3.5, Nikkor f2.5 or Serenar 3.2 possibly? Doubt I can afford the 2.8 Summaron.

I have the 35mm f/2.5 Color-Skopar in LTM. It is an excellent lens with modern contrast and rendering but there are two caveats:

  • Try to find one with the matching lens shade. Buying the shade separately gets expensive. There is a mini shade on the front of the lens shipped. It has to be removed to thread the larger shade on. This has to be done by leaving the lens cap on and twisting the cap to get the small shade off. If you try to thread it off directly, you will exert too much pressure on the shade and it won't come off. DAMHIKT

  • These Color-Skopars are known to sometimes have haze/crud issues inside the lens. Simple haze can be removed, but some of it is apparently from the adhesives that were used during manufacturing. The damage they do to the glass cannot be fixed. For this reason, always buy one of these with the right to return for a full refund at the sellers expense so you can get it home and do the flashlight test.
I also have the 21mm f/4 and 50mm f/2.2 Color-Skopars in LTM. They are all just great. I use the 21mm on my M bodies as well with an adapter ring and aux finder.

The Elmar 35mm is, in my opinion, dead on perfectly dull. It's great and completely without distinction. By comparison, that Jupiter lens that has the intrusive rear element completely distorts the corners.

The "Mandler" 35/2.0 in LTM should be order able April 26 for $388 delivered. Nice lens, bought one at the March order window.
