A recent medical scare has finally convinced me that it's time to shed weight, both my own and that of my equipment, so I'm offering up a variety of my larger, heavier gear over the next few months. I've never used most of this stuff, it's sat in my safe awaiting my foray into 8x10 which, if it ever does happen, will now use lighter and slower lenses.
Here's a nice 240mm f/5.6 Sinaron-SE, the Sinar-branded version of Rodenstock's Apo-Sironar-S, mounted in a last-version Copal 3 shutter. Its 75-degree field of view gives a 372mm image circle at f/22, which allows plenty of movement on 8x10. It's a substantial lens, weighing 987gm (about 2 lb 3 oz) with caps and retaining rings on my kitchen scale, and takes 86mm filters. The glass is clean and clear with a few specs of internal dust and no obvious cleaning marks. Includes Sinar rear cap, Rodenstock front cap, and both the spacer and retaining rings.
I measured the Copal 3 shutter's speeds at f/22 with an old Calumet tester (admittedly I've never tested the tester's accuracy) and they're repeatable and slightly slow throughout range with the worst results at the fastest speeds, the usual result for Copal 3 shutters. The sheets that came with new Copal shutters said that 30% error (almost 0.4 stop) one way or the other was considered "in spec".
The below feeble attempt at a table (the forum software hates tables or any attempt at sensible formatting) gives the marked and measured speeds along with the error.
Marked - Measured - Error
1 sec - 1.15 sec - 0.2 stop slow
1/2 sec - 0.60 sec - 1/4 stop slow
1/4 - 0.36 sec - 1/2 stop slow
1/8 - 0.16 sec - 1/3 stop slow
1/15 - 0.088 sec - 0.4 stop slow
1/30 - 0.050 sec - 0.6 stop slow
1/60 - 0.030 sec - 0.85 stop slow
1/125 - 0.019 sec - 1.25 stop slow
My asking price of $1450 includes insured signature-required US shipping and PayPal goods and services fees. I will ship only to the verified PayPal shipping. Given the high cost of international shipping and import duties I'd really like to sell this within the US.
