fwir, 1:100 Rodinal stand developed for one hour is a one size fits all and suitable for that old film that came with an old camera.

I'm assuming that means b+w old film. What I have is an exposed C41 400 asa film that was in a Praktica I was gifted. Guy hadn't used it in 20 years or so. I'd like to process it for him as a thank you.

1:100 stand/semi stand for an hour or some other dilution and time?

If Rodinal is not that suited to cross processing, I also have HC-110 and the chems to make D23 and DD23 2 bath.

What will give me the best chance of getting images from this film?

A few months ago, I developed a roll of Kodak BWC 400 from 2003 with HC-110 dilution B 5:30min. The negative looked a bit dark but I got nice scans.

Developing it in C41 chemistry instead of Rodinal.

You have a point but I'm not going to do that. As the guy has forgotten that there was film in the camera, nbd if it doesn't work. Will be a test in case more old film turns up...

...like just now. The Kodak Signet 35 I bought from the US has just been delivered. Had film loaded and the counter showed 30 exposures. Rewound it and low and behold, Kodachrome 64.

I’ve had very good results using 20-year-old color print (C41) film and developing in Rodinal 1+50 for 15 minutes at 68F.

That said, film that is 20 years old and recently exposed will likely behave differently than film that was exposed 20 years ago so a clip test might be advisable.

It’s unlikely you’ll be able to use that Kodachrome with this method. Whole different animal there.
