120 is the length of the film 120 cm. 220 is 220 cm long. 135 (35mm) 36 exp is 135cm long

Graham.

Since each frame of a 120 roll is 6 cm square and 6 x 12 = 72, you're a trifle short of 120mm per roll.

What about 135 film that only has 24 exposures?

Nice theory, but...

They're just names. If Kodak had used letters, everyone would have wanted to know what the acronym was for (and made it up if they didn't get an answer). So they used numbers instead. Then everyone can wonder what the numbers mean, and make it up when they don't get an answer :D

Ok, so several folks here remember the words from the song, but how many of you actually have a copy of the song in their music library?

So are you... unless you are buying roll film in 12cm lengths?

Okay, to stay ON-TOPIC I think 120, 220 and 135mm comes from the # of bars in a musical prelude to crazy peoples dreams. :D Cool link Laz.
