Hello Everybody
I'm looking for standard double 18x24 film holders ala lisco, Fidelity etc. to fit my toyo 810g. I've searched that great auction site exstensively but there is none there at the moment. Does any of you know where else to find them. I'm only in the market for used ones, since I cannot afford to buy them new.
Thanks for you answers

Mads, have you checked ebay.de? There are usually some there.

Also check German second-hand shops. 18x24 holders have been really cheap the last few years - while 8x10" seems to be getting more expensive again, 18x24 has kept dropping.

Yes I've checked ebay.de, there is none at the moment. Do you know of any concrete german second hand shops where I could look?

I do - but I'm at work now and don't have my nice little bookmark collection on the job PC. But before I get home from work (on the 30th), I'm sure there will be several on ebay.de!

Well I hope so, because I really need some.
If I haven't found anything by then, do you think you could post some of them?
(Thanks for the replies by the way)

There are some in Belgium for sale right now. www.marktplaats.nl (the dutch ebay site), type in "filmhouders" in the first field and click on "zoek" and you will be directed straight to some linhoff ones.

I looked closer at them.
If I'm correct these are origianlly for a linhof technika 18x24 camera. And are plate holders, with film sheaths, which means they wont fit my toyo 810g. The outer dimensions has to be the same as a standard 8x10 double film holder. Can anyone very this or correct me if I'm wrong?

You should ask the seller. When clicking on "Neem contact op met adverteerder" you can sent him an email. Asking in English won't be to much of a problem, i hope.

Well I asked him... really nice guy by the way... and it seems that they are identical except for the thickness which is 1,5cm on a normal fidelity type film holder and 2 cm on the linhof holder

Usually different loading as well, if they're film/plate holders (as most but not all Linhof holders seem to be). I find them easier to load than Fidelity and the film lever is really useful for checking if they're loaded or not. There are pictures in the Photo School at www.rogerandfrances.com. Go to 'How do I...Load LF holders'

Cheers,

R.

Those look to me like high-quality book-style plate holders for "international" back, and not the "Universal holder mit Auswerfer" that Roger is thinking of. I don't know if those were made in sizes larger than 13x18cm?

These should be great. I have two of them, and there are no better holders. Mine are not Linhof, but nameless wood with aluminium "rib" and top.

Hello Roger
I couldn't find it!
I found something under largeformat but that's all.
Anyway the linhof holders seem to be too thick for my toyo 810g. I have the old version where the back only opens partially and you have to push the holder in. The opening is just two centimeters so theoretically they should fit, but I tested it with a book with exactly the same thickness and it seems to me that it puts too much stress on the back.
Does anybody have any experience with this.
By the way I do find it easier to load plate holders with film sheaths than normal fidelity type holders too.

The reason I'm asking is that maybe I'm just being too careful, I just got that camera and I would hate to mistreat it!!!

I'm a long way from my cameras and holders at the moment, so all I can say is that the holders I have fit my camera. But my camera is a Gandolfi Traditional, so I have no idea if they will fit a Toyo. The camera has a spring back, where you slide the holder between the camera and the ground glass.

It almost looked like that was the first time a holder had been loaded in that camera since it left the hands of the Gandolfi brothers - but the holder slipped in very nicely and precisely with no difficulties at all.

It's ok Ole
I'll pass on those holders and wait untill I find some standard ones.
I did succed in finding one holder from another dutch auction site, but that is all so far. If nothing else turns up I guess I'll have to wait untill some turn up on ebay.de
