reply to OP: okay, my peeve is calling digital imaging 'photography.' it isn't photography. it's digital imaging. digital images are made and created by purely mathematical data and electronic sensors.

Or you could refer to digital imaging as "fauxtography."

"Vintage" on eBay when used to refer to something that is merely old and crusty.

You left out Rickover's big got button; calling the Engineering Officer of the Watch the "EE - Ow".

I often thought there should be some position that could be called the EOR like the Pooh character. We sure had enough folks with the right personality for it!

Yes, indeed. There were exceptions, such as MG-TG bus, and EEOW.

The biggest Eeyore on my boat was the cook, Petty Officer Sherrod. He had a big gold "S" on one of his front teeth and was about 6'6".

I guess no one told him that initials were a no no! :D

On a separate note, since you mentioned Adm. Rickover, my grandfather was in "Hymie's" class at the academy; class of '22, I believe, and served for over 30 years. But he was in the surface fleet (destroyers in the Atlantic theater) only made it to Commodore (now called Rear Admiral), because he was always an outspoken critic; nobody likes a critic. I guess it's genetic.....:D

1) You need to use your flash from the grandstand to take a picture of the stage 1000 feet away.
2) Overdevelopment increases film speed.
3) Underexposure leads to good pictures.
4) Leica lenses are magic.
5) Dichroic filters are prone to fading
6) Diffraction does not exist and the concept was invented by the same people who shot the video of the moon walk in the Burbank studio in 1970.
7) A more expensive camera takes better pictures.
8) Temporal separation of identical blue and green exposures to multigrade paper changes the response.
9) B&W MG photographic printing papers have significant sensitivity to RED light. (i.e. cyan filtration affects exposure).
10) Leica lens screw thread is metric.
11) Angle of view changes when stopping down (need to check for vignetting filter or hood with lens wide open)
12) Lighter cameras will make sharp hand-held pictures at slower shutter speeds.
13) Longer focal length enlarging lenses make the baseboard image bigger.
14) No one shoots film any more.

Getting back to the original subject of this thread, I have been looking at some UK suppliers for film prices. I noticed that two of them have 120mm and 135mm film in their listings.
