People who list things as 'must sell' then list it at a price that you know it won't sell at.

And I don't thing you understood the bit about it working well. It works pretty well as a decorative paperweight... it's all true!

I hate it when people say "photograph" when they really mean "picture". And most of the error is due to not knowing the different names for different kinds of picture.
Recently I had someone point to a black and white picture in a newspaper and call it a photograph. If they had said "press print" they would have been right and would have avoided traducing photography itself. The same thing happens with glossy colour magazines. Their illustrations are "four colour web-offset prints". If the pictures really were photographs the magazines would have to sell for $2000+ a copy in an art gallery!
To keep a good rant going I must mention that out of the last dozen or so photographic (sic) exhibitions I've looked at I can't recall a single picture made out of light sensitive materials. Why, oh why, can't people just say "ink-jet print" and quit deluding themselves that they have made a photograph.

I hate it when people say "photograph" only when referring to finely crafted "art" pictures made using photographic processes. I also hate it when people say that pictures taken with digital cameras are not photographs. The good part is that people who will actually go out of their way to make such pointless distinctions usually have little else of value to present regarding content. However, having been made simply for arrogance's sake, the comments are easy to dismiss.

As an addition to the grammar/spelling posts: I also cringe at folks who offer a "sneak peak." Like one can hide a mountain? "Sneak peek," please!

People who list a set of bellows for sale and when asked to measure the internal opening, respond with: "Sorry, I don't have the time to do that."
And sellers who claim it is not their responsibility if the item gets lost in the post. I never buy from them.

Abbreviations in general drive me nuts, because often there is ambiguity about what they mean, even the common ones. Like IIRC - what the heck does it mean? Never been able to figure it out based on context.
That's just one example, there are lots of them out there, and personally I would like to make it a criminal act, punishable by death, to use them...
It just takes so much for granted from the reader to understand it sometimes, and that's unnecessary on their behalf. There are a lot more readers than writers, so just be clear! Spell it out. Please.

I agree. I struggled with IIRC for a long time until I finally googled it and found that it means "If I Remember Correctly".
Funny, but sad. Isn't it the responsibility of the writer to make their text clearly understandable?

Oh, if you want to see way too many abbreviated phrases in a forum, check out one frequented by moms or women trying to get pregnant. Holy cr@p! When the post in the help section stating all the abbreviations is pages long, it's past amusing.
And out here in western PA, using an apostrophe in a plural is way too common - drives me NUTS! I even saw "Buffet on Saturday's" on a billboard for a local restaurant and "Chuck's Sale's" as a business sign. Plus there's a sign nearby that says, "Honk if your a Steelers fan!" Doesn't say much about Steelers fans, huh?
