There is a thread on this achievement at Stephen Gandy's rangefinder forum and over at photo.net on the alternative camera forum. It's big news and good news and, it looks like the interest in this camera is still building! Ilford better get busy cutting more paper and film to 4X5<large grin>. Congratulations!

Pinhole photography can be addicting, especially with positive paper. I fixed up my old 5x7 model this winter so the little 4x5 would have a friend to play with. The 4x5 gets paper, the 5x7 film.

Vanbar says they have 'em, but they are AU$100 pricier than ordering directly from Walker Cameras - which took only 10 days to get the thing to me....

I've noticed everything I have ordered on FleaBay costs way, way less (sometimes as much as 70% less) and takes less than the time it would for a retailer locally to get something in their hands — and this is the crux point for me. On your point of additional cost and speed of delivery by mail, both agree with my observations.

On first landing there, it looks like AUD$250.00, shipped? I think I'll toddle over to Walker Cameras and splash some cash. Shame I won't be able to play with it at the Noojee dig, but no sweat, Little Zero my multiformat pinhole will easily cover the gap. Maybe we'll see an entry from you Marc on Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day on 29th April?

Verily, that is a valid point. Yes indeedy, I am very, very partial to the Zero Image pinhole range in terms of quality and engineering and weighing up my choices. These masterclass works of art in cherrywood and brass make the Harman Titan look a bit like an bleached industrial offcut, but that won't stop me wanting one!

Here's my first two ever pinhole pics from the Titan - made inside the Ballarat Tram museum last week, whilst chatting to the folks there, and only partially paying attention to what I was doing. I guessed about a minute exposure for each (TXP320 @ ISO200, f/206), and the negs are a bit thin, but very printable...

Marc, they look a bit too sharp for pinhole pics; generally, I don't prefer sharpness or clarity over the traditional lack of focus but excellent definition. Did you apply any post- sharpening?

Gary - No sharpening beyond what the V700 does without overt user intervention. The neg I made yesterday of the larger waterfall at Noojee looks far more "pinhole" like to me because of the long exposure, flowing water and vibrating deck! It's a strange camera to use - I really feel like I'm not actually doing anything... That and the weirdness of a Large Format camera that adding a film holder to, doubles its weight!!

The V700 is an excellent tool for the job, Marc. All of my matted/framed prints were prepared on that.
Vibration on that darned bridge, and mischievous APUGers loitering in the bush on the right were major challenges of patience; and again on the viewing platform of Toorongo Falls (that structure, and the one at Amphitheatre are patently ugly, ugly and intrusive). I don't know how much the Titan weighs but it came across as looking very lightweight? At the moment I'm ogling 6x6 pinhole pics from my trip around the central and western half of Australia last year; who says beautiful images should be left to the big gun classics of cameras!?

I reckon, Marc, I'll be angling for the Zero Image 4x5; I'm just sooooo smitten by the cherrywood and brass (ah, just like you when you saw the Wista!!! )
