Indeed! This weekend, I'm hoping to get out and take some photos on 60+ year old plates with a 100+ year old falling plate camera.

Hopefully the plates will fall, not the camera.

Great!
I fell jealous!
Well i have seen really old plates at the market!
I was curious if they are possible to work!

I've had plate cameras for years and never used glass plates in them. Until J. Lane and Zebra started offering them, there was a period of years when they were virtually unobtainable.

Now that I can get them easily, I really need to give them a try. Being able to develop under safelight is just a bonus.

I don't know for certain about Zebra, but J. Lane plates are hand coated with handmade emulsion, so they won't be as consistent or "perfect" as commercial plates would have been from the 1920s to 1950s. Some consider that a bonus, like the very slow speed of the "original" blue-sensitive plates.

First thing to consider - if you go all the route with new or very old glass negatives (or with sheet film) - is whether you already have experience developing film. If not then you have to make a choice: to learn developing the film/glass plates yourself or to rely on third parties doing it for you....

I just receive a Zeiss film pack holder 667/7 just for fun even i know i can not find a non expired film.
It is almost proper with just a small interference with o dremmel to the back.

Hi Coll, did the 667/7 holder not fit firmly in the back of your camera?
what do you mean with "o dremmel to the back" ?

As i have mention there is no possibility find somebody professional for glass development!
I have ask 2-3 profesdional labs at the capital, the developwith traditional way black an white and they do not deal with at all!
So me, or nobody

I will try to explain!
The gap down is perfect!
But the edge at left an right finish just some mm before the point i want to clip!
It is very easy to create a small <dent? > to make it clip there.
The 665/7 i found are short and almost completely useless

Ps
i was talking about roll film pack holder!
Af caurse i can not find pack as you know!
I m not still cover with sheet film with sheath for 9x12 but i will in time
