I don't have an xpan, just borrow a friends when I use it.
I use the 7 rows x6 negs/strip from Freestyle.
since I shoot MF(6X7) as well, I make contact sheets on 10x12(cut from rolls for color) or 11x14 paper(cut down to 10x12 after processing), cause...
well, you have the different shapes on the wheel, small holes to a larger circle. there's also a ragged edge, so with constant movement you can have more of a "soft" edge.
its a burning tool though, not a dodging tool. bad name calling on the part of the manufacturer

I think cutting a roll down is your best bet, otherwise, you'll need some serious cash to have Kodak custom-cut some paper for you.
