But you yourself have seen my work. A few years ago I PM'd several photographs to you. Furthermore you can come by my place to see many of them on the walls.
I was processing my C-41 at home, but since I do not shoot enough to collect 12 to 16 rolls of film and printing out one or two prints per frame to see what I have got, it has been easier and cheaper to send them out to Samy's Camera and get the film back uncut [I want 6 frames per strip and...
I have the Nikon N75, N80 and F100 and they all have a slow battery drain for the display that cannot be turned off. If I am going to leave the camera empty for a while I pull the batteries and leave them next to the camera on the shelf. When I go to use the camera, I reload the batteries and...
There are not a lot of choices for each speed film, so it comes down to Kodak or Ilford and traditional or tabular grain for most cases. Discussing grain choices quickly becomes a religious discussion.
A used Hasselblad body is less than PhotoShop and in the hands of a photographer is more useful, especially considering PhotoShop cannot take a photo but can fake one.
My only one is Photrio and I review it once a year and determine if I still want it. It is not a monthly blood sucking vampire draining my account the way PhotoShop does.
I found, for myself, that monthly subscriptions are constant drain which one tends to forget about. Then add one for Sirius radio and another, soon one starts to wonder where has the money gone? Gee I thought I was doing better than that! Years ago with it first came out, I saw that early on...
It is bad enough that we never own beer; we can only rent it. So why does not need to rent PhotoShop when one for the same cost could own a darkroom, less the cost of materials of course.
Kodak Tri-X and Rollei IR 400 are two different films with different purposes so I cannot limit to one. For 4"x5" I use HP5+ or FP4+. I have a number of rolls of Plus X 120 for special situations.
Portra 400 is the only color film I use. One day I may try Ektar but I have not found any other film with the color accuracy and consistency.
I have a stash of Porta UltraColor in 35mm and 120 for the right subjects.
Instead of a big price tag for PhotoShop or Microsoft Office, the software companies have changed to a monthly charge and slowly sucking the blood out of the subscribers. And yes, they do screw up and sometimes cancel someone who was paid up and the subscriber is without usable software until...
The only time I use an ND filter is on my WideLux F7 with the fastest shutter is 1/250 second and smallest f/stop of f/11 which in not a good combination for ISO 400 film on a bright sunny day.
No, and shoot box speed so that you are working with a known quantity. Shooting less than box speed will only yield information that the film transport system works, better to leave the camera on the shelf for another ten years.
I agree blindly shooting half the box speed without any idea way is just a bad way to go. The film manufactures have done more research than you or most of the self appointed internet experts. I shoot box speed, if backlit I either meter the subject only with a spot meter or open the lens half...
