The focus should be better than that. Did you set the focus to cover the depth of field range for the f/stop you choose?

I used Dean's Camera Repair, 1055 W Carson St, Torrance, CA 90502 +1 310 782 8619. He looked at my Nikonos II and told me the shutter had a broken part that was not available and to find a Nikonos V, no charge. I found he was quite helpful and a good source of advice as well as service.

I can focus the two AIS lenses and manual PC lenses by eye, but then they are respectively 15mm 110 degree wide wide angle lens, 16mm Fisheye and the 28mm PC lens. All of them are of wide angle persuasion so of course they are easy to manual focus. I have the Tamron 150mm to 600mm lens which...

May calibrations laboratories will not touch Zone VI modified light meters. That many laboratories cannot be wrong; they obviously know something that non-experts do not know.

My point is that one size fits all solutions, do not fit all solutions.

Yea. Right. 🙄 When HIE was discontinued and I had only one roll of HIE some wide self appointed sage recommended that I use all 36 exposures of exactly one subject and then I would know everything about using infrared HIE on one subject. Of course I would not have any HIE to use after that...

Please no! Take light reading without the sky which will provide the proper subject exposure will some shadow detail.

Growing up my parents took us, whether or not we needed to, one day on the weekend to a museum in the Baltimore Washington DC. After one has seen enough art, one knows how to compose. When I get back in town I will look at my bookshelves for books about composition.
