Its the film coatings that shed from the film. I find that if I presoak, I can get rid of that and avoid what you are seeing in the chemicals. The pink crap does not seem to damage the film, but it is annoying to have to wash out.
I shoot both black & white and color, switching backs or cameras on some subjects as I walk around. If I am traveling I generally will only shoot color. YMMV

O-rings I found on the internet searching for the sized needed.
I search for the Nikonos Grease made by Nikon.
1 second according to my Hasselblad repairman causes the escapement to take the most number of counts. That yields the longest activation of the counting mechanism. The smallest f/stop causes the iris to the maximum range of motion.
I have been passing this information on Photrio and previously on APUG. I do 15 firings at 1 second and the smallest f/stop for each lens. That has saved me much grief.
Good question since once the paper gets wet one can no longer determine which print was first nor what the differences were caused by. Thank you for asking this question.
I had a Gossen Luna Pro SBC that had a sensitive red activation button and it ate batteries until I started storing it so that nothing in the camera bag could bump it.
