Planar vs Pancolar: eternal battle - A simple, unscientific test/comparison

Gee, that's very, very ugly bokeh at the background... For both lenses.

New (as of 2019) airport CT scanners

Great post, Henning. Epic. I was just about to write a pessimistic post. I guess the film industry will do something. What worries me most than travelling with film, is shipping film unharmed to other countries without damage. If this isn't guaranteed, that would surely signal the end of...

What is the most rugged F and why?

My own experience with the two F3 cameras i've owned, plus the cameras i've found and tried for sale, plus one of my friends' cameras, is that the F3 mechanics are superb and reliable, but the electronics for the meter are questionable. More than one F3 in my city (including one of mine) have...

    Olympus 35RC battery cover

Those covers are often interchangeable. I have an Olympus 35RC and the battery cover fits my Canon F1 and also my Gossen Lunasix meter... So you can fit the cover from another machine.

    B&W Reversal with Hydrogen Peroxide

There's a PDF on the 'net about using Hydrogen Peroxide with citric acid for revesal. Hydrogen Peroxide with acetic acid is another recipe. I think user Alessandro Serrao has more info about this. (I've blocked him here, so somebody will have to ask him)

    B&W Reversal with Hydrogen Peroxide

Note: I'm almost sure the peroxide used in hair salons is "30 volume" which is not the same as 30%. "30 volume" is 9 *nine) percent. 30% hydrogen peroxide would be very strong, dangerous stuff.

    Durst M605 Help

I own a M670 color, which uses a dichroic lamp inside the head. The lamp is 12V so the power supply is 12V (dc or ac). It came without transformer so i used a 220 to 12v transformer (i use 220v at my household) and it works fine. If that's the case you can just use a 110 to 12v transformer...

What's your latest new old camera ? (Part 2)

Use the 675 zinc-air battery and the meter will likely be totally calibrated. All the F1 cameras I got (three) have perfectly calibrated meters, none needed adjustment. Just use the zinc-air battery, never a silver or alkaline because the metering will be off.

Planning to send my Mamiya lens in for haze removal

Lens will be just fine. So, the heat treatment is only 30 minutes? Only one heat treatment in the end, or would you recommend two? Also, why did you put the glass into a preheated oven? Doesn't this increase the chance of the lens breaking up? I thought starting with a cold oven would be safer.

What is the most rugged F and why?

Yep, my former F3's meter died silently while my camera was just stored inside its bag for a few months. Now I pray my current F3 doesn't die. I agree. My preferred Nikon. The contemporary Canon F1N is superior in many aspects, yet the F3 is more enjoyablle in the hands.

What is the most rugged F and why?

Most rugged "F"? Probably the Spotmatic F or the (Canon) F1... Or the Rolleiflex 3.5F... Oh well in the Nikon world, surely it's NOT the F3, which can't even keep its memory lock in place. However, I like it a lot. Probably the F2 is more rugged, even though the F looks more tough.
