To expand on what LesDMess has told you,
If you want a "fully mechanical" machine then skip the FM and check out the Nikkormat FTN/FT2/FT3.
Otherwise, between FM and FE, the FE was the higher-priced model, with interchangeable screens, it was also designed later, and has (imo) a better display...
Yes.
And you see, when this camera fails is mostly due to mechanical issues that are also the same for the FM, and then sometimes by some electrical (not electronical) issues.
Replace "die" with "fail, needing maintenance afterwards". In my experience every electronically-controlled camera of those years will need a preventive manteinance. And afterwards it will be a very reliable machine.
At least on filmdev there is a complete explanation, sample pictures, and you get to see who is claiming the time/temp/agitation figures. Plus comments at the end of every post.
A massive difference with the MDC. Pun intended.
Kosmofoto has a lot of influence on social media. Most likely, the retailers will climb up their price to take advantage. It's a win-win for distributors and retailers.
Yes, Matt, I understand what you say, a valid point.
However, suppose that i'm a distributor. I can also invent myself a supposed price increase, just so I justify my price increase, attributing to other factors.
This happens all the time and has happened many many times. At least in my city...
I can also make up figures, it's easy.
Sorry Logan, i find ridiculous to report an "official" price increase without showing an official document, yet claiming it exists.
Sadly everybody retweets Kosmophoto.
I always wanted to know why price increases are, lately, only reported by "kosmophoto" and then everybody re-links the same kosmophoto news as if it was official.
"In a document sent to dealers this week", it says. No source.
Yes.
However some of those front-cell focusing lenses can be pretty high performance, for example:
The 35/2.8 Color-Minotar on the Minox 35mm cameras.
The 40/3.5 Tessar on the Rollei 35
The 45/2.8 Tessar on the folding Contessa
Granted, they're 35mm lenses but all of them are four elements...
Well if I had a Medalist then I would indeed agree with what you said on another post -- "One focal length lens is all you need.". Make my lens an Ektar, make my day.
This is an often repeated argument that borders on fallacy.
You simply can't simulate the exaggerated perspective of a 40mm, 50/55mm medium format lens by simply "walking closer". Simply because there isn't enough angle of view.
As for the tele, sure, there is enough angle of view and i can...
It's not "all-plastic", it has a metal frame.
Take care with the battery compartment cap. It is fragile.
Also, the manual tells you which certain FL lenses you should NOT fit into a T70, take a look.
Nice! Which is your wide angle of choice?
He he he...
Rolleiflexes are great cameras (i rate them way above Leica rangefinders in general, as the best german-made cameras), however you are stuck with only one focal length. Of course unless you want to pay a small fortune for the...
Today I reviewed the MDC again just for fun and found this. Here's an example:
So how the time for Neopan Acros can be 10 minutes at EI 200 and also 10 minutes at EI 400 ? (yeah with a 1 degree heat increase... lol)
And of course they have mixed "acros II" with "acros" which are not exactly...
That's great, later you can resell it -for example, to Sirius- to buy a Bronica SQ or ETR system, and enjoy nicer ergonomics, convenient Auto-Exposure when you need it, TTL OTF flash, and reasonably-priced lenses that give gorgeous results. PS/PE lenses in particular were state of the art in...
FT, FTb, TX, T70, AE-1P, AV-1, AT-1... all of them are nice cameras.
I only have the F-1 and F-1 New right now, but i woulnd't mind a T70 if a mint one crossed my path.
To hell with the overrated damn FM2 that can't fit pre-AI lenses, has no AUTO mode, has no nice needle display, and isn't really more reliable than the FE or FE2. Nikon's most overrated camera.
Put new batteries on it. Test that it fires at all speeds. Remove the lens, open up the back, point the camera to the sky while looking at the curtain, fire at 1000 and check that the exposure is even.
Put it in AUTO mode, with a lens fitted in. Check that the speeds vary according to light...
Jaeae,
This was a really excellent tutorial.
Even though I refuse to service the Zenit cameras (and your tutorial made me remember why!), the way you explain everything is so detailed and thorough, it deserves an award.
