boy, some folks sure are gassy here, this place is startin to stink of bad attitudes :p
ah heck, this is the internet folks, not some pity party mushy face session where we pump fists and grind our teeth at the guy/woman/person/thing at the other end of the line/world, whatever... we're here to...
ALL of the "pro" labs I've used here in LA don't play the hide-n-seek game with their pricing. Nor have any of them required I 'start an account' before doing business. They're brick and mortar establishments(I'm talking Icon, Richard Photo Lab, A&I, etc...) and have a large walk-in customer...
I don't know if I could/would group myself into the category of "addict", but it became an addiction to buy. That's for sure. Maybe like some women and shoes ;)(ducking head now :whistling:)
I bought stuff I *planned* on using, used all of it at least a few times, but much just sat around until...
That's a good theory, however, if those iron particles did indeed rust out, then they would go blue(ish) in the scan, since the colors get inverted(maybe even canceled due to the orange mask layer).
The orange "halo" effect surrounding the particulate might be a result of the way the light...
Well I'm a Christian, but I believe I understand what you mean. I have decided to live my life as stress-free as possible(although there are times when I do get stressed beyond control, then I pray :)!)
PREPARATION is the key I've found. Having things laid out(not like clothes the night before...
In my experience, these don't look like water marks, but residual crystalized chemistry particulate(not completely into solution).
Look at your negatives at an angle, and see if there is residual marks/residue on the base(glossy) or emulsion(matte) side of the film. If it's only on the surface...
Hey all,
I've decided to construct this short write-up to talk about "G.A.S". G.A.S. meaning that bloated, sickening feeling some(dare I say many?) internet forum readers get when they've acquired too much photographic gear. I'm writing this as a former addict/G.A.S. sufferer. I'm not writing...
I use most of my lenses on my 5x7(formerly both 4x5 and 8x10, now just 5x7) kit about the same amount of the time.
I kept most of my lenses, traded a few(and have done a good bit of buying/selling whilst figuring out what I like(they're all about the same really, mfg's that is, if of the same...
People will pay what they want to pay, and what they feel it's worth.
Sellers will charge what they want to get for a piece of equipment.
Deals are made when the two come to an agreeable price point during the "song and dance".
If resale values due to cosmetic condition of your equipment get...
I like D-76 and Pyrocat HD. I use either, depending on my desired end result.
I really like Ilford's Hypam fixer, since it comes as a liquid, and the stock lasts almost forever. I can also use it for paper(printing) or film.
For a newbie, I'd recommend the following:
Start with the basics...
If yours has straight threads like the one in the auction's picture, it won't work.
Shutter release cables are TAPERED threads(similar to a cone shape). See the picture below:
the person who has made these didn't make them correctly, that's IF they are intending on selling them to people who...
I can understand that 220 film doesn't get as many SERIOUS users as it used to(pre-digital days when film was THE capture medium), but TBH, a massive markup over 2x120 rolls? I mean, a few pro-packs of 120 and some extra cash and you've paid for a really clean extra back(or backs, depending on...
I know this is a re-hash of re-hash'd topics mostly likely started lotsa times before, but why not ask again!
Just for giggles I just looked up the cost of 120 Portra 400 in 120 and 220 sizes...
WOW:
120:
singe roll...
on older(like 5-6yrs old, which I COMMONLY shoot(cuz it's cheap ;)!) film, I test a roll doing the following(all of the same scene, camera on a tripod, I'm not creating art here :D):
shoot a grey card in 1-2 frames
meter how you usually do(spot, ambient, etc., whichever way you regularly(and...
Rollei/DHW and other manufacturers make electronic shutters.
now, your average joe who buys a $250 lens off ebay might not use their lens enough to justify spending $1200 or so on an electronic shutter+controller(and a shutter for each lens!), but a working professional who is using(and renting...
I have a few odd rolls laying about, so here goes.

get it while you can :)
cheers,
Dan
I have a feeling I might regret this, however I just don't enjoy shooting 35 anymore, so here goes...
Wonderful little P+S, a super sharp Zeisssssss lens!
Condition:
-Case/body is in great condition, can't really seem to find any faults.
-Viewfinder(glass, no plastic!) has a few small...
Ilford makes XP2, which is C-41 b+w film, and when processed, it comes out with a light "purple"(similar to Tri-X in d-76 type look) tinge.
Great for printing to traditional b+w rc/fiber papers like normal b+w negatives. Kodak BW400CN has the orange base
35mm...
