I think you're correct.
The first few rolls I developed had extremely pronounced edge effects. I was filling my 15oz Nikor tank to the brim with 500cc of developer. This left no room for agitation. once I reduced the developer volume to 450cc, the edge effects went away, though I noticed these...
Yes! Perhaps it's my imagination, but I perceive that the density extends along the edge of the frame leading to light edges in the final print. Perhaps it's nothing, and I can always burn the edges.
I don't scan negatives. I simply photographed the images here with my iphone in attempt to capture the linear densities on edge from. In the end they don't impact printed image that much...if they do I can just burn the edges.
The artifacts in red are likely a reflection of my iphone as I photographed the negatives in sleeves on a light table. The film is not expired, and I kept it light safe. All of the rolls on this body have had these linear densities on side of frames parallel to long axis of film (as opposed to...
I remixed solution A from a new Photographer's formulary kit (the 500mL stock kit), and the negatives are appropriately dense. So it must have been bad chemistry in the first kit or my failure to use all 200mg of the phenidone. I appreciate the help!
I have shot about five rolls through this camera, and they all had the same defect. I have no prior experience with MF film or cameras, so I have no prior comparison.
GUilty as charged...I left out that I shot some tmax 100 gifted to me by Bob Herbst. Regardless, same defect happened with TriX my usual film. Thanks for pointing this out. ;)
I've developed a few rolls of TriX 400 on a Mamiya c330 pro, and the negatives have been fine aside from excessive linear silver density at the sides of most frames. These linear densities extend beyond the bounds of the frame. The negatives themselves are fine otherwise with no fogging or...
Lots of good input here. I'm beginning to wonder if the glycol trick is worth it assuming you use the chemistry rapidly. Even with the glycol version you'll be suspect at some point whether it's 6 months or 1, 2 or 3 years...
