An interesting foray into direct-positive reversal process with photo paper

Well, I tried the process and was successful thanks to a lot of the info above. However, the material is very slow (low ISO), coming in to be ISO 1.5 or 2 for Ilford Multigrade RC paper and ISO 1 for Ilford graded RC. This is close to the sensitivity of wet plate collodion I believe. I work with...

An interesting foray into direct-positive reversal process with photo paper

Hello, I am reviving this thread and hoping "koraks" can chime in. My question is about pre-flashing in order to increase speed and reduce contrast. Can I pre-flash, in my 4x5 camera, a sheet of the ilford multigrade paper by taking a photo of a white card using a yellow filter on the lens? I...

Help with flaking silver gelatin dry plates

What a bummer! I try to heat to only 120F, seems safer and still works fine. I usually coat on metal plates that Rockland sells. Did you figure it out? How do you apply to the plates - pour, brush?

I like this wiping with clean sponge or cloth action to make sure residues are gone. And adding dish soap to calcium carbonate sounds good as well.

    Liquid emulsion recommendations?

Hi, I have used Liquid Light and Rollei. Liquid light used to not be so great but they improved it when they did away with a premium option named AG+. They all behave the same way coating-wise. You may be deeper blacks with the Rollei. I used a bunch on glass and the darks never really got that...

Rollei liquid photo emulsion on glass - fixing problem

Hello, I know your frustration! I see that the OP was in 2022, so hoping my info here will help others doing research. It doesn't look like there are any good ideas above based on my experience. I did a lot of work coating small and up to 20x24 glass using Rollei emulsion about 15 years ago...

There was a beautiful show of her work at the Morgan Library and Museum in NYC that just closed. More than 50 original prints, mostly albumen. Biggest show by far I have ever seen of her work. Well curated.

    Adventures with Arista Ortho Litho

Hello F4U! I used some X-ray film in the past, the surface wasn't smooth and it had emulsion on both sides of the film, and it scratched very easily. I ended up washing away one side of the emulsion with bleach to get a more clear image. Is that Fuji HRT like that also? Do you do anything...
