My House Burned Down Today 5 - The Roof, The Roof, The Roof Was On Fire...

So it's been quite a frustrating day, my house burned down, and the only way for me to turn the bad into good was take a few photos. I really couldn't see much, it was very dark, and I basically messed up one or more lines in every photo while adjusting for the ones I could see, I missed a whole bunch that I couldn't see. Such is life I suppose.

Don't worry, no one was there at the time, no film or camera was lost, and the suspect is either a druggie who broke in to stay warm, or someone lighting fires for kicks, apparently I wasn't the only house at that time that "got hit" in the city. At least I got the exposures right...

Stone - I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you are ok. Sending healing vibes!

Very sorry to hear that - at least you sound as if you have the power to recover from this loss quickly, I wish you all the best! And for the photo: even without the story this would be a very strong picture!

Stone: As a retired firefighter I understand how devastating this loss can be. My thoughts are with you as you work to rebuild this part of your life. When I was still working on the fire department I often thought about doing some post-fire photographs that would concentrate on the things in people's houses that they probably take for granted until they are damaged or destroyed. The idea was to make a photo essay that might cause others to be more careful about fire. But I always felt that I would be exploiting the misfortune of these people, so I never started the project. Best, Dan

Main thing is everyone is safe. Not a great start to a new year. All the best to you and yours and hope you didn't lose too many of those little things that are irreplaceable.

Well that really sucks! I'm confused you are unsure of your address? I take it this house was not your primary residence. Whatever the case hope you and your family are ok.

I'm glad nobody was hurt and that you did not lose gear or film. I'm sure it will be no fun dealing with this and I hope it goes as quickly and smoothly as possible.

How devastating Stone. Among many challenges in life this type of horrific event would be close to the top of the list. From reading the message it does sound like no one was injured, sincerely glad of that at least. Good luck going forward.....take care!
