I hope someone can relate to this.

I just received my Epson V850. Set up went well and scanning seems to work fine using Epson which will do for now.

The V850 use the new negative tray with the ANR glass. The glass isn’t the issue it’s getting the strip under, and to stay under those nasty guide tracks! (FIlm lock bevels)
The image (attached) shows the 120 strip UNDER the guides but their directions state:

“Place the film on top of the film lock bevels. Forcing the film beneath the beveled edges will damage the film.”

So my questions are… Do you have the same issues as me getting the 120 strip UNDER the “bevels”? And is the strip indeed supposed to go under the beveled edges and their instructions are wrong.
I intend to wet mount the ones I intend to print but want to scan all of them.
Thank you!

The image is confusing.

You simply sit the film between the rails like shown below.

Don't forget to set the height adjustment at the default position to start with. It's indicated with an arrow on the holder.

FWIW, I have the epson fluid mount accessory, but I find most of the time the standard holders are fine for most print's I do.

The other issue with the 120 mounts is that all my negatives are cut 3-3-2-2 (I shoot 6x7) to fit in the plastic page protector that have four rows for the negatives. (You'd cut 3-3-3-3 if you're shooting square format 6x6). The problem is the new V850 holder for 120 will only hold 2 images. If you put a three-set in there, the clamp squeezes the third negative possibly damaging it. So you have to cut it down to two images. Then the negatives dont fit right into the plastic page protectors. You're playing around with 2-2-2-2-1-1 separate image pieces. The opening is about 2 1/2. Dumb. My older V600 fit all three negative images with no problem. You'd think Epson when they desinged the V850 would do a better job. Also, the glass on the V850 holder is a dust collector, worse than the no-glass V600 holders.

Also, I ffind 4x5 negatives sometimes don't fit the holder depending on which film I'm using.

That's why I use the DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask.
