Look up what a 'hot take' is.
This is a zen level few get to in their heads.
No one aside from my family sees 95% of my work. If I share I get 'You should publish these on instafacetokmarketbooktube!' It's my personal stuff, when I'm dead you can do what you want with it. I enjoy taking photos and the process. It's fun, it's mentally stimulating and keeps my mind sharp.
I don't print my own negatives. I make prints from my own negatives. I guess that makes them digital.
No need. Since it’s almost all been nonsense so far I figure a “hot take” is one of those things that means the opposite of what you’d expect, like in the old days if you said something was bad it meant it was good.

Honestly this is (in my opinion) the whole reason to shoot film. If I wasn't driven by the process, I would shoot digital and get results of equal or better quality with less work.
It must be better, because it's difficult.
There are no rules in art. But, the purist in me agrees. Let the medium be what it is and embrace it. Shooting film only to scan it on a flatbed TO ME feels like a waste. Print it in the darkroom to really get the most out of it. Does it make the photo better to the average audience? No, probably not, but I will think its cooler
Spicy! I'm going to say I mostly disagree on your take that he is a mediocre photographer. He was a master of the medium as far as knowing how to get the most workable negatives for print and in my opinion did take some really stunning photographs. The Tetons and the Snake River and Morning Sunrise come to mind. But where I can't really argue is that if Ansel Adams lived today and made the same images, they probably wouldn't stand out as much in the crowd. He was the first to photograph some of these locations (at least as well or as thoroughly) so you could argue that the aforementioned crowd was a product of his own work. Regardless I think much of his reputation is a product of his time, but I still love his work.

'Hot take' is just slang for an opinion. Maybe a slightly out there opinion.
Yeah, it's specifically a controversial opinion in common use.
The more time you spend on forums, the less you take pictures.

I'd say he was an excellent photographer and printer, but an average artist. I find Brett Weston far more compelling.
Most woodland scenes lack local contrast in the midtones and are boring.

Good OOC raw files are supposed to look flat and "blah" when viewed on a computer monitor. Your job as a photographer is to figure out how best to squash those files to fit the capabilities of the computer monitor or photo printer. Or, if you don't want to do that, just shoot JPEG.

Like comparing an unmanipulated max black time enlarged print on grade 2 paper in normal developer at a normal dilution at normal development time, temperature, and agitation to the fine print.
A hot take is a controversial opinion. It's like devil's advocacy but implies some amount of "you actually believe it but haven't thought it through," which is sometimes more interesting and either more or less annoying than the tendency of devil's advocacy to be merely deliberately contradictory.
So responding to a hot take by saying in effect "that's stupid" is partly missing the opportunity. The take may in the end be stupid, but it's also an opportunity to think twice about one's sacred cows. For example (responding to someone else's hot take), I don't think for a moment that AA was actually a mediocre photographer, but it is briefly interesting to think about whether the magic was all in the darkroom.

Kodachrome 25 was my favorite. I truly miss it. Far more forgiving than you'd think.
It's bait for an argument or debate, but if it's any good as a take, it's bait for an interesting argument. There are a lot of baits (like "Camera brand X is superior to Y") that don't rise to the status of a hot take, but are merely an attempt to rile people. A good hot take is something more than that.
