Does what we use in 35mm or MF translate straight across the board to what you want/can use in 4x5" or 8x10"? It certainly doesn't for me. IMO re Ilford's announcement is "Much ado about nothing"

A wonderful study in dark tones!

Yeah, and here I am nearly 77 with barometric change rheumatism, hoping for a just good walk nearby with my camera, while my long-time backpacking sidekick 25 years younger is headed up to the mountains this weekend to seek out a hidden cirque lake possibly still frozen over which I've described to him over the years. Last time I was there it was with the 8x10, and with the longest scale film available - pitted dark volcanic rock in deep shade all the way to gleaming ice in direct sunlight, plus a deep red filter to boot, to bring out the cirrus clouds the very last 3 seconds they were still meaningfully in the scene that day, with me still huffing and puffing from the steep hike up there.

Where's the tower? Don't most tourists go there to see that? And why is it snowing in Paris? I thought the climate was warming.

It's a great photo! I have not been to that lake yet. It's more difficult now with the restriction on access to Moraine Lake.

No tower Drew,...different continent 😉. Eiffel Peak though, as in this photo

Isn't that what portable smoke tanks are for? - adding haze to the scene. If there were trees around, there would be another way of doing that; but Smokey the Bear might get offended.

I had one high country shot of a spectacular pinnacle just slightly above the seasonal forest fire smoke zone. I could make things out well enough to focus, but not detect any detail. There was a nice little lake reflecting things in the foreground. Was shooting 4x5 TMX film, so I added a deep red 29 filter to cut through the haze. When I got back and printed the result, everything was so clear that even an undetected golden eagle perched on the very tip of the spire came out totally crisp in a big enough enlargement. That was some dumb luck!

Yes but strangely once you get to Moraine Lake....you can find hardly anyone goes to Consolation Lk or Eiffel Lk.

About 15 yrs ago I took a shortcut thru the woods and arrived at an opening in a very boggy meadow around a scenic lake. There was really only one place to stand or prop up a tripod, a large flat granite rock projecting into the lake a little ways. I went there are realized that was precisely the spot where AA had once taken a famous early picture of that same lake. Hmmm, I thought, and there were even nice clouds ... but not for me. Then I turned about 45 degrees, and said to myself, How on earth did he miss THAAAT? - an incredibly featured and lit peak on the horizon. I wanted a closer viewpoint, and it took me another day to get there due to a deep canyon in between, but I arrived at the same time of day, and with the same light. Well worth it.

I wonder if Delta 400 is next on sheet film for Ilford? It too is missing in their list. I'll buy it if they release it.

Probably not, as I think the fear is it would cannibalize sales of HP5. As I mentioned earlier, Delta 400 was available in sheets when it was initially released, and then discontinued.

I don't think so @braxus. When Simon Galley was a regular poster here, he said that it wouldn't happen, as it could take a big bite out of HP5 sales, which is their flagship film. It would be neat to see it once again, though... I'd buy a box for sure!
