Does anyone have a recommendation for a link or a book that shares a gallery of large, sharp Hasselblad SWC photographs somewhere on the web besides Hasselblad's website, Flickr, and that one Robert Frank book often referenced?

I was looking at a few videos on YouTube and many of the images were soft due to camera shake, missed focus, and perhaps the video compression upon upload. I want to see what the SWC can truly do for landscape and architecture. I doubt it was ever used much for portraits. I would take recommendations for that too, though.

Do not worry. I do not have G.A.S this time.

Sadly, Nicolas Levy never made a YouTube video about the SWC. I think he would have made a great one. I wish some of his 40mm FLE and 50mm FLE scans were available to view in full resolution on a site somewhere.

Nico's Photography show made a couple great SWC videos. His frames are not available in full resolution online.

Have a look at Lee Friedlander's "Western Landscapes." Magnificent. All SWC.

Wowie Zowie! My New To Me Hasselblad Superwide C T* with Hasselblad CFV16 Fat Pixel Digital Back. Initial tests look really good! I am stoked to have this, the previous owner sawed down the tripod Black underneath, so the CFV16 goes right on. Set the Back to "SWC" and away we go. YAY! The resolution this provides is way good enough for my purposes. Fun Fun Fun USING this. If I want really high resolution I go to 4x5 5x7 or 8x10.

Robert Frank with an SWC?

My mistake will be immortalized on the web. It was Lee Friedlander.

I'm pretty certain this series was shot with an SWC-

And Friedlander's America By Car-

Thank you. I added Western Landscapes to my library list along with America by Car. I will take a look at the Tokyo Strut.

I wish more examples of color work were available.

Let us know if you have a gallery to share!

I used an SWC for street photography for a few trips just to force myself to see with one but limitations outweighed the positives so I stuck with the Rolleiflex. They are scanned but not uploaded. I don’t know what type of photography you are looking for but I have a few on this iPad I am using. It’s a super wide so you don’t want your subject too far away and watch the whole frame avoid distractions as well as empty spaces. I don’t use an external finder. This was at a temple in Bangkok. SWC CF TMax 400.

Another one from Bangkok. In Buddhist countries the monks in the early morning walk around for alms. I usually don’t photograph them out of respect but thought the juxtaposition with these two would make an interesting shot. I set the lens to 4 feet.

Interesting. You are right. Can't think of any SWC color work. I wonder why.

You've probably seen lots of examples, it's just that they weren't disclosed in a paint-by-numbers manner. They were also enormously expensive, which meant a lot were rented for particular jobs rather than bought.

Both the 21 (on the Contax IIa and IIIa) and the 38 Biogons are very high performing even by today's standards. If you need that perspective, get one & live with the eccentricities.
