I’d love to see Delta 400 available in sheet film, but if I had to guess I’d imagine it’s one of their color film stocks. I have no basis for that, so it will be interesting to see what they’ve had in the works.

Are you sure it isn't referencing this portion of the email I received yesterday from Harman?

I participate in the ULF order every year and they haven't done any sort of announcement tease about it in the past, that I can recall, though the Ortho Plus short-turnaround part is new, I guess.

It is from Ilford, not Harman. And I do not think they would do this to promote the ULF, which is an annual event and which has already been announced/promoted.

I am tentatively guessing a new LF film. Possibly Pan-F.

That would be fantastic if I could get Pan-F in sheets! But... imagine SFX in sheets! One can dream, right?

SFX would be easier to make in sheet format, it's essentially an HP5+ variant, and was originally engineered (in traffic surveillance form) to be coated on polyester base.

More pertinent is whether they'd be able to sell 1200 boxes of 8x10 (or 4800 of 4x5) within the lifespan of the IR sensitiser before it fogs.

It all comes down to pricing, I guess. Either way, I'd scoop up a few boxes of both formats, for sure!

I'm using 20+ year expired Konica 750nm infrared film (not as great as the HIE to begin with) and still get decent results. Considering there is total lack of infrared stock on the market today, I imagine it can sell pretty well. Beggars can't be choosers.

Matches the Pan F colorway

I’m gonna go against the grain (ha, see what I did there?…) and say PanF, meh. Gimme Delta 3200 8x10. SFX would also be fun. But not as fun.

Not true, as proven by an awkward interaction I once had. So, I’ll take the new Ilford Autochrome plates in 11x14, thank you very much!

Hmm, but based on the background color of the teaser, it’s probably PanF. Same color is used on PanF packaging.

Still crossing my fingers for autochrome plates though.

I want Kentmere 200 at 40% lower price than FP4+

Yes, I want that, too! Kentmere is such good film. Random conversations with camera store staff, who can use pretty much anything at a discount, have confirmed that Kentmere 100 and 200 are favorites. Problem is, I think Ilford knows this, and they won’t give us Kentmere in sheets to compete with themselves. I know I’d buy it.

But back to the begging and choosing:

Edible Daguerrotype kits. We don't get enough mercury.

That would do nicely, count me in. And look for the new TikTok trend of eating a picture of the person you love/dislike the most.

If Ilford would offer Kentmere 200 at a attractive price for a limited time I would buy it. The price of sheet film is mind boggling. I see that Kodak is still offering color films in sheets, must be some entity that uses this. Maybe some Bezos level billionaire types that snort cocaine off of Ektar.

Give people choice. Volume of production is key. This is why there's no 220 films, people say they want it but they wouldn't use it. The point I'm struggling to make is Ilford needs to do what they've done with 35mm and 120. Hit every price point with quality products.

Well, I hope a lot of locals here in the coastal fog zone buy it, where we get natural softbox lighting conditions along the beach for half a day at a time. Pan F can be lovely there, if the wind happens to stop (which it rarely does). But it would be useless in the nearby redwoods on the same day, where the contrast range can be staggering, not to mention the exposures ridiculously long for sake of a film that slow. I have no idea what their marketing dept was smoking; but it would be fun to at least try this sheet film once, provided I carry some more mainstream sheet film along too. Remember, Pan F needs to be processed more promptly than other b&w films.

Here at my house, the fog might or might not lift later this afternoon. But at least the cold wind off the ocean isn't as bad as yesterday. Diffuse fog works magic for color film - and Pan F has just about the same scale of realistic exposure range as color chrome (slide) film. If you think about it that way, and rate it conservatively at 25, you have the best odds of it cooperating with you. In the mountains, it only worked for me in the rain or falling snow.

At least it's cheaper than TMax; but I'm sure as heck not going to give up TMX or TMY. Pan F is a "special occasion" film for me, when I simply want to switch things up, mostly for fun.
