Hi

It seems Printfile ULT 120-3HB is the only commercially available product for storing 70mm film strips. But it is super super tight to get any 70mm film into it, be it perforated or unperforated. To compound the issue, most 70mm film (Aviphot, Plus-X Aero) have very thin film base. And it makes double hard to push any film strips into the sleeve.

So do you have any suggestions on either an alternative sleeve, or different ways of sleeving the film strips?

PrintFile made (makes?) pages for 70mm....
"70-3HB"
If no longer made, maybe try Ebay or a WTB ad here.

I don't shoot a lot of 70mm film but when I do I just put them in 4X5 PrintFile pages.

Print File makes a 1000ft roll of 120 sleaving that is about 9-10mm wider the a 120 film. I picked up a roll of the 120 and 35mm on ebay. I don't know if they still make it or if you can get it used, but that might work for you.

Each sleeve in the file is slightly narrower at the ends where it has a welded joint. Cut the negative a bit shorter than the full sleeve length and gently bent it when inserting. I also struggled at first before I figured it out.

Also, if you're not already, clip a couple millimeter chamfer on each corner of each strip, so they don't catch in the welded edges of the sleeves as badly (just as some folks find they need to clip the leading corners of 120 to go into plastic reels).

Printfile still catalogs them.

I've not checked to see if B&H or any of the other retailers still stock them, but they are listed.

There's also roll of them on Ebay now, but it's a little more expensive than buying two boxes of them directly from Printfile.

BTW, I've recently started shooting 70mm, and have yet to buy files/pages for them(the film I've shot is currently rolled up in the tubes my lab returns 120 in...). I was going to order some of the 120-3HB sleeves, but hadn't pulled the trigger because my Nikon scanner doesn't really handle strips longer than 3 frames of 6x6. The 70-3HB would be perfect, but it would also take a LOT of pages for one roll of 70mm.

The solution I'm toying with now is ordering some of the 120-1m sleeving along with some 8x10 pages(especially as I have an 8x10 camera I'm restoring and hope to shoot soon). Ideally, even if it's a bit sloppy, I could cut my 70mms as I see fit, sleeve them, and fit most if not all of a roll down in a single 8x10 page...

Just checked B&H and they have this 120 sleeving in stock at $30 a roll. This should work perfectly for your 70mm film as well as 120

B&H and Freestyle both carry the long roll of Printfile 120 sleeve. Don't search by the part number, just search on "printfile 120" and it's there.
