Trick to Bay 60 --> 67mm step up?

I now have 2 step-up rings by different manufacturers and both get stuck when put either on any of my 67mm filters. I need a filter wrench to undo them. Yes, I've used silicone to lube the threads. Is there a secret trick that HB users have passed down from century-to-century that I somehow need to know? thanks!

I would recommend using a very light touch on the adapter side...
I suspect that putting a death grip on it is distorting the ring and making it hard to unscrew.
Filter wrenches apply even pressure all the way around, reducing distortion.

I have filter wrenches but I have found using think rubber bands or a sheet of grippy rubber or silicon can loosen the filter off the step up adapter.

The brass Heliopan adapter rings with B&W brass filters are foolproof. The cheap aluminum adapters from the PRC are nothing but trouble.
I ordered several Heliopan rings from a shop in the UK. I'm not sure why, but these were much less expensive than buying from B&H.

Brass is never as expensive as the minutes, hours, years of frustrations at nonbrass adapters and filters spent in vain and missing shots being at their best because you've given up trying to add or remove a filter or adapter.

Sirius G: I hadn't thought about the alternative to a filter wrench, but it's a lot easier to carry rubber bands.
mshchem and eli: of course! duh! all my filters are brass, so why am I using a step-up ring that isn't? The Heliopan is insanely expensive in the US, and cheaper in the UK if you do buy more than one (to justify the postage): thanks so much!!

Check for prices of used Heliopan, Hasselblad and B+W filters. I buy them used if I can find them in EX+ condition.

I do the same and have yet (hopefully never) found a 'bad one'.

B&W are my favorites, Heliopan and Hasselblad in that order, with Hoya optics as a must have stopgap fill in.
