WRT the data ring, the paint can probably be removed carefully. I've done it in the past. Was done that way to avoid taxation when brought here from Japan by the owner. Your 50/1.8 is actually the AIS long-nose version. The pancake is the one based on the E lens and, therefore, doesn't have a prong.

Personally prefer the long-nose 50/1.8 myself.
