Yeah, there is plenty to photograph by the side of the road, provided you don't mind being run over or at least have dust and mud splattered
all over the camera. Never mind peace of mind. My idea of a pleasant day with a view camera is a week's walk from the nearest road!

Those crazy cell phone drivers are dangerous. I've almost been run over crossing at a crosswalk with the light saying "Walk" several times.

I just received an email about these rebates at Gitzo (in case it sways you in a direction in indecision)! Maybe it doesn't matter to you but this is the sort of thing that I use for an excuse to pull the trigger on a purchase like this....

Ed Weston said to Ansel Adams something like there is nothing worth photographing more than 200 yards from a road.

It's a myth and has been attributed to a growing number of photographers. Including Morley Baer and Brett Weston.
I've only seen the quote but no source has been quoted. Unless you want to use another website as yours.

If it's on the internet it must be true.

Who knows and who cares. For all I know EW ate beets. I hate them.

Luminous-lint doesn't give sources for any of their quotes and the 500 yard quote uses the word "ain't". Never seen that in any of his letters or bios.

Somebody already clarified the hypothesis by pointing out he ate cell phones.
