My wife has a thing to go to in Vail next week. I'm going along and will have a couple days to just hang out and take photos. I would like to get out of town, but don't know the area at all. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Peter

Shrine pass is a nice easy hike. Might be chilly if this cold front is still in effect. Don't know how much snow will be on the ground, so maybe car access is the only way to go.

I have really only been there to ski, so no great ideas otherwise.

You will find something I'm sure.

Ok, so ten miles back toward Copper Mountain, Shrine Pass Rd., #709. Do they keep it open? What kind of shots might I find?

Well, there's lots of mountain terrain to photograph. There's also a 10th mountain division hut up there, which are wonderfully photogenic.

Details are here:

The parking lot at the highway is always accessible and the hike to the hut is an easy 2.7 miles from the highway.
