One of the reasons we moved to Parksville upon retirement - more sun! (but foggy all day here while you folks were enjoying the sun and temps above 5C)Hope so... it hailed today in Coquitlam.
Hey Dev. 'Not sure how this would be w/ Andrew, but if I you get a chance to meet up w/ Andrew, I'd jump at the chance. I'm learning too & Andrew has likely forgotten more than I'll ever know. Sometimes there's just no substitute for the face to face & the learning potention would likely be hard to equal.Hello Everyone,Just found this forum, Into B&W film photography late starter and active learner in Vancouver.
It has been too cold in Vancouver to do much out-door activity. Went out today temporarily to do pics of the frost. That's about it though. Most taken of Grouse Mtn from my balcony so clear out from the cold and nobody driving. See the pics in my signature.
OK. Looks like Vancouver might be over it rain season. Spring/early summers are prime for Lower Mainland outings.
Maybe it was the five years that I worked in that province next door (with its unending, brutally cold, soul-destroying, winters), but I have yet to ever experience weather here at home that has prevented me from heading out with a camera (perhaps I'm too hardcore?). Most of the time, the bulk of my work is in color (70/30, perhaps); in the winter months, or during a prolonged period of precipitation, I tend to shoot more black and white (Monsoon season here is generally 75/25, or thereabouts, black and white to color). Irrespective of the weather, or the time of year, I've always got a camera at hand. This city is simply too beautiful for me to risk missing a potential photograph.
Not so much from the cold it is just the unrelenting rain and constant rain puts a damper on everything as the cameras I have are NOT waterproof 100%. Kind of uncomfortable to set up a 4x5 in driving rain. And also I have been out here for 20 ish years from the oil province next door with its COLD winters that never end. But at least there we had more sunny days than here. I have a camera with me 99% of the times I am out as the Lower Mainland is a very beautiful photogenic place.
