I got an Analyser Pro for Christmas which is the combined Zonemaster II with a timer. I'm still learning, but yesterday I managed to calibrate it for some Kentmere paper that I'm using. It took me all morning, but it seemed to work
When you say that your fibre prints were coming out too dark -- were you still using the standard settings? There are 8 different channels called PAP1, PAP2 upto PAP8. (PAP as in paper). Out of the box, all 8 channels are calibrated for Ilford Multigrade MGIV RC.
On RH Design's website there are some calibrations for other papers including Ilford Multigrade Fibre (
http://www.rhdesigns.co.uk/darkroom/html/caltable1.html), however, to use them you'll need to enter the offsets and contrast settings into the Zonemaster using the "calibration mode".
I find the Analyser Pro to be a fantastic piece of kit which has already improved my prints in the short time that I've been using it, however it's not the most intuitive of instrument to use. Especially, setting it up. It's annoying having to use the same buttons for more than one function which makes it difficult to remember. Also, you have to be very careful that you're using the right PAP channel for your paper. There really should be a visual reminder of which channel you're using.
