If you are talking about the 8X10 Zone VI enlarger, I would use a lens in the range of 240 to 360 mm depending on the size of prints that you want to make. Typically that limits your choices to the 240, the 300, or the 360 mm focal lengths.

I own the 240 Componon S and also own various Schneider and El Nikkor lenses all are good provided you stay with the premium lenses in the particular manufacturers offerings.

Looking at my original question I see that I left out: Zone VI Type II 5x7 enlarger with Zone VI 8x10 conversion coldlight head.

Well that's different isn't it?

I'd use what Donald said, and forget that I opened my big mouth.

I use a 240mm on my 8x10. It seems to be the most common, although a 300mm would work also. The 240 uses all the bellows to make a 8x10 print though. If I had one I might use a shorter lens on occasion to make prints smaller than 8x10 from the negs. (Like postcards)
