hi boys

Until last month I was a happy owner of ZBE Oriental Enlarger ,now it is broken
I have written to the aristo
http://www.aristogrid.com/prod02F.htm
and this is the answer

Dear Roberto,

In the past we had made repl lamps for the ZBE VC-CLS Oriental Seagull
Enlarger- to the ZBE spec.
What we were finding was that the enlargers were having electrical problems.
These problems were chip related and manifest themselves primarily in the "tuning" and intensity control of the lamp. We have no repair for this or any of the Oriental Seagull enlargers. We are not in the electrical repair business so as a result we have stopped the manufacturing the lamps.
As someone to send you to.... I've not come across anyone who will work on the unit.

Regards,

Louise M. Kessler

Any suggestions????

hi Louise

I have the same head which when malfunctioned after 1yr use I was told by ZBE directly the same thing, this was over eight years ago,
It gets worse, in the same year I bought a ZBE starlight 1000w colour head system (extremely expensive) after 1year of use it stopped working.
Once again I tried to resolve the matter with ZBE and to no avail.
Right now I have two usless (but in mint condition unique elarger heads on my hand) I would love to find a technician who could fix both.

They now sell the chromira exposing systems and I pity the longdistant printers who purchase their equipment. Absolutely the worst customer care group I have ever came across.

Bob, Louise,

Have you tried contacting KHB Photographix? It claims to repair ZBE equipment.

Their website touts a new service manager.

http://www.zbe.com/

Why not call this guy and get under his skin? If that doesn't work, call him at home. Number is in the anywho.com book.

If that doesn't work, do you know what the broken parts are? Do you have a schematic? If ZBE won't fix it, get a schematic and get back to me.

Good luck. -LG-

I have written to the zbe and they have send me to the aristo
so i asked (to zbe) for the schematic and they have not answered me
but now i'll do an other time.

The big problem will be repl lamps anyway! one is broken!

As someone that also owns one of these heads, I'll be watching this thread closely. Luckily, mine, at present, works great.

Call the guy on the phone. That way he can't blow you off. If it is the tube, then find out about the tube. Who made it? Is there anything special about the tube? Who can make a new tube? If it is Aristo, and Aristo has told you NO, then point this out and find out what it is you are suppose to do. Tom Coniglio is the new service manager. Talk to him and tell him you are getting the run around. Don't let go. I should think that Aristo could make you a custom tube. Is there a sign maker in your town?...talk to them.

I too am a ZBE VCCLS owner. Although the tubes of my head are in working order, I had contacted ZBE, more than once, for other matters regarding this unit. They do not offer technical support of any kind for this unit. I too had asked for schematics - they claim not to have any documentation on this unit as it was manufactured for a client (New Seagull, aka Oriental) and have ceased support many years ago.

BTW, I have yet to solve my own problem. I need assistance in wiring the footswitch (my unit did not include one). Could anyone offer wiring instructions based on their footswitch?

Thanks,

Vasilios
