You're correct that the OM2 was the first implementation - even though Canon and Minolta applied for patents first, and that it meters in realtime OTF. However, all Olympus are limited to 120 seconds max in their aperture priority autoexposure according to the manual as well as testing I have conducted with my OM2 and OM4. Please let me know if there is another camera that can meter for as long as it takes or battery is exhausted in aperture priority autoexposure as that is my main interest and knowing of another would be great! I started with the Canon EOS and they are all limited to 30 seconds and exposure is determined at the time the shutter is depressed.

Ah, I did not get that doing it as long as the battery is working is important to you. I don't know about the Olympus;
I'll give it a try tonight with my om4ti

Stefan.

This past weekend at an antiques fair, two Pentax LX bodies, one 50mm f1.4 SMC-A, one 24-35mm SMC zoom and one 35 mm f2.0 SMC - £50 the lot.
All because, as the vendor said, "No-one uses film any more."
Steve

A definite case of ignorance hurting!

The 35mm and 50mm are both pretty sought after by digital users as well as film. I wouldn't expect to get any single item from that list for £50.

My most recent ebay finds:

Pentax Spotmatic with ERC, original strap and Super Takumar 50/1.4 with original front cap - £7 (almost mint apart from a dent in the top plate, the lens is perfect now I've de-yellowed it).

An auction which just read "Asahi Pentax Jessops". Emailed the seller and found that it included a KX with 55/1.8 lens, so paid £26 including postage reasoning that the lens alone was worth the risk. On arrival I find the camera and lens with original crinkle-finish lens cap, also a Vivitar 75-205mm f3.8 and a Jessops-branded multi dedicated thyristor flashgun. Everything just needed a good clean, the KX is now going through a test roll.

While it doesn't really qualify as a garage sale find... A coworker came up to me last week and said, "I hear you like old cameras. You can have this, I use my phone for pictures now." Inside the case was a Canon AE-1 Program, with a 50mm 1.8 and 100-300mm zoom, both by Canon. Along with a Canon flash.

I'm definitely going to have to spread the word that I like old cameras, even further. ;-)

Of course battery is important for aperture priority autoexpose and I have been able to achieve 4minutes with my OM4Ti.

Nice catch!

Nice catch!

In the past month or so I've picked up two Olympus XA's both working and a Nikkor Series E 50mm. All from thrift stores.
-Ive been looking for a good working XA for quite some time. And here i got lucky twice. One must be a more recent date, because even the seals are in good shape.

To the average person, that old XA (or XA4) looks just like any other old compact film camera (which you can't get film for any more!) So £1 or $1 at an outdoor sale is all they expect from it.

At a local Goodwill store (charity shop for those over the pond,) a rather used Olympus Stylus for $1.50. Put in a battery and a roll of cheap film and just got the film back from the drug store last night. Works perfectly! Very spiffy pocket camera and whomever designed the outer shell did a wizard job of fitting it to the human hand.

Picked up a pentax ME-Super with a flash and some other lenses.
The ME-super is dead. The flash is a vivitar 283 but its dead as well. -Did have 2 vivitar flash cords which i actually need yay!.
A albinar 80-200mm. But the gem is a Pentax SMC 50mm-M f1.4. Nice!

I picked this up at a thrift store. When I walked up to the counter a guy was already checking out the cameras. They had just put a bunch out for sale. I asked for the ugly old brown leather bag and he asked for the newer black nylon. He passed on the plastic vivitar camera it contained.

Almost as good a deal as my XA4. £0.50 ($0.81) - but without the flash!

I have recently sold a few things I wasn't using. I was very surprised when the bids for this went up to £60!!

During the last months I've found two Stylus Epic/Mju II, in great condition, on flea-markets, total cost - 14 euros ... I see they go on ebay for 100 eur a pcs. and now after getting the first rolls of c41 shot with them back from development I think I'll drop them on theBay, way too automatic for my choice, the shots look great but I don't like the "workflow" (full auto) on these cute lil machines.

For $20, a Yashica FX-3 from Goodwill, with 50mm f/2 ML lens. The body needs new leather and seals, but camera and lens are otherwise beautiful and perfectly functional. The lens in particular is practically mint. I'm looking forward to recovering the camera body.

Meh sometimes I get lucky and find myself a lens for my Nikons, but I never get lucky and find myself an F5, F4s or F3 hanging out at a yard sale for cheap waiting on me. For that matter I never stumble across any Hassleblad or Mamiya gear at Goodwill. I have a friend who somehow cant goto a Garage sale without finding something cool. I guess I am not gifted that way.

Recent scores:

Original Yashica T (predecessor of the much-loved T4) for $3
Olympus XA in box for $10
Olympus Stylus Epic for $3 with a hardly used roll of Delta 100 in it.

A Nikon MD2/MB1 combo (482xxx) w/Nikon's Ni-cads and charger and instruction manual for the sum of $300.00 (only thing missing are the boxes the drive and pack were factory packaged in). All the goodies are in mint- condition; the only indication of age I can discern (barely) is a bit of shrinkage of the "leather" on the front of the MB1 back. Only downside: the seller could not find the original MS1 packs, having replaced them with the Ni-cads shortly after purchasing the unit. Time to scope out eBay...

Recently picked up a Pentax IQZoom 170SL (35mm AF point and shoot with 38-170mm zoom lens) for $3.75. Looks brand new; only needed a new CR2 battery. Got a roll processed at Walgreens and boy it's got a good lens.

Also got a Pentax MZ-S new old stock for $100 at a local camera store.

a small pile of filters, mostly 52mm in various colors. Some grimy, but cleaned up fine. Plus a Gossen Luna-Pro SBC meter. All for $50, and here's the best part, TWO nikon F2 plain prism finders, the DE-1. One is dented and funky (KEH UG at the very best, but probably worse), the other is really nice. Both work equally well on the camera.

A Konica Auto S3 for $20 at a local shop. Has the common battery wiring issue and I'll be sending it to Greg Weber for a CLA sometime this month.

A few things I found in garage sale which I think a good deal.
1. Minolta spotmeter M for $2 works perfectly.
2. Pentax MX with 50mm f/1.4 lens for $5. Everything works except the flash sync. Neither the hot shoe or the pc sync would fire the flash.

The following are not that good of a deal but good deals.
1. Canonet QL17 GIII for $5
2. Olympus 35RC for $3
3. Weston Master II meter for $2
All work fine.
