I've been a long time garage saler, but this weekend took the cake....

I got a Rollei 35 SE with the 2.8 Sonnar for $10!

The camera was being sold for a friend, so the seller didn't care at all and he had no idea what he had.

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!

I bought a black Yashica FX-D Quartz with a YUS 28mm 1:2.8, a Yashica ML50mm 1:2, a Tamron Adaptall 80-200 CF Tele Macro, and a Vivitar 2800 flash at a garage sale for $2.00.

Then I spent $8.00 an ebay for a replacement film rewind knob for it ...

Wow, nice score! It's unfortunate that people think if it's not digital it's garbage...

But, Wait There's More !

I neglected to mention the Polaroid PDC 640 CF. It's an ancient DigiSnapper.
It works, but did not include a cable, or card. Some day I'll show it to the grandchildren.
And tell them about the Days of Digital, and how we eventually returned to using film.
Four Cameras For A Buck !

Enjoy The Weekend

I found a mint Power Winder F for my Canon F1 this week at the junk shop for 3000 yen. I also found a Canoscan 2400 film scanner (scans negatives from 35mm to 4x5) for 100 yen ($1), and it actually works.

Both great deals, but the scanner is amazing! Great find!

Olympus XA with A11 flash. From craigslist -- free!

"Seller" described two non-working Olympus cameras, the kind with the sliding piece which covers the lens. She didn't name the cameras. There's a Stylus Epic in there too, but the film door latch is broken. The XA seems to work fine though.

Most of the problems associated with the Olympus XA series are due to dirty battery contacts. A quick clean up usually cures them. Yours may have had intermittant problems with its previous owner which have not shown up with you yet.

Went to the flea market a few hours ago. I had to report my find here. I think it's worth it.

Nikon FM2

Nikon MD-12
Nikon F Bellows Focusing Attachment Model II
Nikon PK-3 extension tube
Nikon SPEEDLIGHT SB-15
Nikon AS-1 flash unit coupler (X2)
Nikon HS-2 lens hood
Nikon AR-3 cable release

Nikon 28mm f/2.8 Series E
Nikon 100mm f/2.8 Series E
NIKKOR 28mm f/3.5
NIKKOR-S.C Auto 1:1.4 50mm
NIKKOR-P Auto 1:2.5 f=10.5cm

All this for $50. I found it and borrowed the cash from my girlfriend. She now refuses to let me pay her back, so I guess I got it all as a gift. I'm typically a Konica fan, but this is a decent excuse to get into Nikon. Plus, there was other stuff in the bag too. There's a viewfinder for a Nikon F (or F2. not sure), a focusing screen (which I also believe is for the F, and won't work with mine) and 4 big old lenses that I don't know anything about, but am researching and will end up selling. Here's a snapshot of them if anyone has any idea:

You should feel guilty!
I can see a 12" Ektar but can't make out the others, looks like a couple of Goerz pieces & another Ektar.
What's the small one in the upper left?

Found this Zeiss/Voigtlander Icarex at a Yard sale today with 50/1.8 Ultron. It was inside its case
and still had a roll of 1970s Kodachrome II inside. Everything works including the meter and the
viewfinder is clean. All I had to do was replace the battery and dust it off. This is the version with
M42 lens mount. A great Germanic SLR.

Very low price.

My bad. I forgot to list them. I was really tired last night!
Here you go. From the top left to bottom right:

Shutter: Synchro-Compur
Lens: W.A. DAGOR 6 1/2 in. f/8

Shutter: Ilex No. 4 Acme Synchro
Lens: Dagor 10 3/4 in. f/6.8

Shutter: Ilex No. 4 Acme Synchro
Lens: Kodak Commercial Ektar 12 in. f/6.3

Shutter: Ilex No. 3 Acme Synchro
Lens: Kodad Commercial Ektar 8 1/2 in. f/6.3

If anyone is interested, these are going to be sold. I don't own a large format, so either message me, or I'll post a link to where I offer them here sometime soon.

Yes, it looks even better than the picture and I love the feel of it.
For my money it's the nicest M42 camera I've ever handled. I like
Spotmatics but I never cared for their viewfinders and their meter
switch arrangement. This camera has a nice bright VF with split-
image focus aid, apertures visible and even a shutter cocked
indicator. The meter switch also functions in a more usable way
(it stays on until you turn it off) and there is also a meter display
on top of the camera plus a main power switch to turn it off to
save your battery.

There is a shop just up the road from me with a Pentax K1000 in the window. My son went in today and found out that they want £20 for it. He thinks he can get it for £15. It could be mine soon!

I was scanning Craiglist for Minolta gear.
An ad mentioned a 500mm mirror lens, for $60 !
And other Minolta Maxxum items, and
assorted tidbits. Jumped in the car,
and arrived at my destination.
Not really that fast, but almost.

The lens was attached to a Minolta RD-175.
An Ancient 1.75 Megapixel DSLR. The RD-175
is half the size and weight of a cinder block.
I removed the lens, observed it's condition,
and made note of the Tiffen 72mm. UV filter.
Paid my $60, and took my box home !
( Here comes the Wiseass comments from LXDude )

I Got :

(1) - 500mm Mirror Lens with a 72mm Tiffen UV filter.
(2) - I got a Minolta RD-175 a 1.75 MegaPixel DSLR
(3) - Polaroid Captiva SLR SE with a pack of film,
the camera works, but the film is Kaput.
(4) - Sigma Auto Focus 70 - 300mm lens, the mount is broken
but I will used it reversed on the Minolta Auto Bellows III
for Macro Photography.
(5) - A nice camera bag to carry some of my 35mm equipment.
(6) - Three Good Quality 35mm Auto Point & Shoot Cameras,
all are working properly !
(7) - A Tashika 35mm toy camera, maybe I'll play with it.
( Probably Another Wiseass Comment From LXDude )
(8) - Three basic 35mm Point & Shoot Cameras.

(9) - And eight assorted photography books.

I would have paid $50.00 just for the 500mm lens only.
And if I went to a camera shop I would pay at least $30.00 for
the 72mm. Tiffen UV Filter.

I can only imagine what the Minolta DSLR cost when it was new ???

P.S. : Where can I find the Quantaray Minolta MC/MD adapter for
this chintzy little mirror lens, or a reasonable substitute ?

Stopped at Goodwill on the way home from work the other day. If I time it just right, I get to Goodwill exactly when they open at 9am here.

Anyways, waded through all the 35mm P&S cameras and found a Flash Fujica AF.

The only problem is that the battery cover is crappy and managed to break the first time I touched it. Nothing a little tape can't fix though, right? I don't like cameras that have electronically controlled shutters, but for $5.50, I'll give it a shot. I have a roll of Superia 100 in it right now that I'm gonna run through and drop off at Walgreens to have developed.
