Kodak's E100 is probably my favorite color film
Ferrania P30 is probably my favorite bw film.

Ektachrome color is just beautiful in my eyes.
And I've got to have contrast when I'm doing bw photography.

My favorite by far is Delta 3200, maybe because it’s low contrast but it seems to be perfect for portraits and the grain softens the image in just the right way.

Close second is Delta 100 mainly for 8x10.

my all time favorite is fomapan 200 followed very closely by hp5+, then fomapan 400, then delta 3200 and panf+ 50 for black and white. Fomapan just has that look that I like.

for color slide, the new ektachrome all the way. It dries flat, Fuji does not. Color-wise, it’s incredible.

for color negative, Kodak gold 200, then Portra 400, then Portra 800. Gold 200 is what most of my childhood was shot with, so for me, it’s nice.
Since you are looking at scans all day every day (possibly a slight exaggeration), your testimony has to have more gravity than others.
What specifically is it about the Foma films look you like?

Delta 100 and PanF+ are the ones I use. I don't shoot color so no film there. Have been meaning to try Foma but haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe some day.

Kentmere 100 and 400 are great budget films for general use in 35mm and trying out cameras. Both available in 24 and 36 cartridges. 24 often better for older and cheaper/simpler lomo cameras. For something a bit better FP4, HP5, PAN X all worked for me and in 120.
Ilford deal of one each of above if still on is a good starter. Offered in 35mm and 120.
