Your Favorite 35mm Camera?

My favorite (and only working) 35mm camera is a Canon K2. It's not an old classic, but it does everything I need it to

I also have a Pentax K1000 that needs repairs :/

Same old boring answer, since so many others have said the same thing: Nikon FM2n.

I've had a number of Nikons, including F2AS, FE, even the lowly FG and the even "lowlier" EM, but the FM2n is light, compact, tough, reliable, and ergonomically sound. I miss my M6, but I doubt I'll get another Leica (I would be happy with an M6 or MP with 50 Summilux-ASPH if anybody would care to donate!). I really like my Canon P a lot too.

I suspect a Contax 139 and a 50mm Planar is in my future.

I prefer the FE2, but many times I find myself using the F4, F, F2, Yashica Lynx 14 e IC, FM, etc. I also use the Yashica Electro 35 GSN and the MG-1 a lot.

I would have to say my favorite is my Canon F1n with a Canon 50mm f1.4 or the 50mm f3.5 macro lens. I just got the FN power winder as well as the speed finder. Sturdy camera that works well and gets noticed by other FILM camera users. For just packing around I use my Canon Rebel Ti w/Tameron 35-210 f3.5 which I say if that gets broken on my street photography I won't lose a lot of sleep.
If the situation suits a rangefinder I have a Rocoh FF-3 w/35mm f/3.2 which takes amazingly good photos for its size.

Nikon FA in black with an MD-15 motordrive. The two I own have been very good to me since 1995. I've used many different 35mm SLR's over the years and I always seem to come back to the FA.

Cameras for peanuts

I recently picked up a Praktica MTL5 for £10. As this was the first 35mm SLR I ever owned, I could not resist it.

By a strange quirk of fate, on the very same day I was given a Chinon CE-5, complete with an auto winder and a 35-70mm lens.

I know everyone has gone mad over digital. And I own and use digital cameras. But I find something missing from digital images. I can't put my finger on it. They have no soul.

Does that sound crazy?

My favorites are the Nikon FE and F3. I used the hell out of them in the past, and I miss them quite a lot. I switched to digital a few years ago, but recently began shooting large format. I realized that I didn't have a 35mm film camera, and I happened to find a good deal on a bunch of old Canon stuff. I've begun using an F1 with a growing assortment of lenses, and I find that my D300 isn't getting out of my bag very often anymore.

Fav 35mm cameras

I've owned so many cameras over the years it's hard to pick one as my favorite, so here's a short list:

Nikon F (the one and only)
Nikon SP (I wish I'd held on to this one...worth a small fortune with the 50 f/1.1 lens!)
Canon F-1/F-1n (damned near indestructible)
Canon T-90 (everything but autofocus)
Nikon F4 (big, heavy and almost indestructible)
Nikon N90s (too much plastic but rock solid)

I currently have 3 N90s and one 8008s SLRs. Thinking about buying an F100 or an F5.

Sold my OM1 gear, still a bit sad about it...

Every time I see this, it makes me feel better about still having the OM-1 I bought in high school, c1977. It needs service, and I'm having issues with packing it in a box and sending it away.

Bought another OM-1 last week for $42 to get through the separation anxiety, but I haven't put film in it yet.

Having just praised the Olympus OM1 in another thread, it a close call between that classic and my Leica M6. Somehow for looks and feel my venerable Leica IIIF may be the one I’d take to a desert island though.

My favorite 35mm camera must be my OM2n. However, my most-used is definitely the ME Super I bought for $15. It's completely beat up, which means I can take it everywhere and throw it around and if it breaks, I'll buy another one on eBay.

I have owned many 35mm cameras over the years and I must say that my pair of Nikon F5s are insanely great. The metering is bloody near impossible to fool and they are built like a tank. In fact the strap broke on one of them on a very cold morning and the camera just bounced off the ice on the road. Don

My Yashica FX-D Quartz SE & Yashica Electro 35 GSN

Its a tie, I carry both with me and use them both equally. I simply can't pick a favourite among the two.
