Thus far, I've only used FP4+ (rated at 100) in D76 1:1. I'm sticking w/ FP4+, but as my D76 solution dwindles I think I'll give Pyrocat HD a try.

i am not particular ...
i am still shooting olde stock
(i haven't bought any new 4x5 film since just before 9-11)
i have shot a lot of hp5+ tmx. tmy and txp, and souped them in everything from
dk50 to coffee ... my favorite used to be txp in dk50
but i have grown kind of fond of tmy(400) in caffinolC ...

Mine's TMax 100 in Rodinal 1:100 or Xtol 1+1.
Whichever film / developer combination you pick you will love. Use it, get used to it and it becomes your standard. Then you can start using other film/dev combos and you see how they vary from your "standard" - and whether you like it or not. You'll likely find that different combinations are better suited to your personal interpretation of different subject matter. Right now establish your standard and get used to it - then throw caution to the winds and try a different film!

Have fun.

I have tried a lot of film over the years, decades really, I keeping coming back to Tri-x (old and new stuff) in Rollo Pyro. I love the combo.

You could just look around in the galleries. Do take care to look at actual prints rather than neg scans though; scanners make subtle changes to the tonality and sharpness of a neg that can be deceiving on your screen.

Tmax and fp4+ are about as different as different can be. Well... not quite, delta 100 is even more different from fp4+, to my eye.
