For sale is a Rolleiflex 2.8F Planar in marvelous user condition.

This is a very well used body, there are numerous scratches, scuffs and nicks on the body. The leatherette is shrinking and lifting in a few places, the bubble over the light meter needle is broken and the meter is presumed dead.

The glass is in reasonably good condition. There is one small nick on the front taking element, about 1mm across and pretty light, right next to that there is a light mark in the coating, less than hair thin and about 3mm long. Neither of these should have significant affect on your image IQ. Perhaps some extremely slight loss of contrast when shooting into the sun. There is some light dust inside and some very light cleaning marks on the viewing lens.

The mechanics of the camera are in good shape, focus is smooth, shutter speeds sound good and the aperture moves smoothly. This was previously owned by a small wedding studio which had their Rolleis maintained regularly. The focusing screen was replaced by a cut down RB67 screen and the focus has been recalibrated for the new screen. This is much brighter than the stock Rollei screen and makes the camera a pleasure to use.

The Prism has some wear and some light dings on the top. There is two strips of slight desilvering on the top of the prism which appear as slightly darker strips in your viewfinder but do not prohibit use. There are also some slight cracks on the edges of the prism but these are not visible when using. I would suggest finding a waist level finder.

So there you have it, possibly the worlds ugliest Rollei but one which is ready to continue its life taking marvelous photographs.

This camera may be a sequel to the one I purchased from (this gentlemen?) a few months ago. I bought a 3.5 F Planar that has same eye level dinged in prism viewer as this one. I love my camera and he is describing it (probably?) very accurately. Mine has a bent back that is the biggest issue and he described it in his writeup very well. Although, there is gentlemen in California that will repair the bend and adjust any film tension plate issues. The eye level prism works well on my camera and is bright. All in all, I would do this over again in a heart beat, go for it. I have developed about 4 rolls of film and I am in the middle of a vacation using it right now.
Best to all.

Great to hear, this would be my first Rollei, but I haven't heard back from him, even though his profile says he's been active since I sent him an email and two pm's

He's been selling a number of these, I think most from a wedding photog place that liquidated. I got a 2.8E2 Planar from him that is awesome. They are users to the max but seem to work great.

Thanks Richard,

I'd love to buy it, but the guy won't respond to PM's to let me know where to send payment

Unfortunately, I'm pulling my hat out of the ring on this one. Not sure if I was the 1st in line for it, but nonetheless...

For some reason, the seller won't respond to my PM's, emails, or return a phone call(he said it was still available when I called him today).

I have cash ready(well, it was ready) to pay, but no answer. So no deal. I understand if someone can't answer immediately, but his profile has shown him being active here since I sent my messages, but not returning my messages despite showing "private messaging". I'm not trying to be bothersome, but more that I was excited to get a Rolleiflex, to see what all the "hype" is about!

So hopefully someone else can have a positive buying experience, but a birthday present to myself will have to come from elsewhere
