You'd have to be nuts not to be in your car on the way to pick up that system now. If you sell the spare body and factor in the cost of the film--the system is close to free.

Yeah it is a heavy camera buit that doesn't mean it can't be hand held.. I do it all the time for street n other shoots.

Yes. Put a left hand grip on it and I can carry it around all day.

non metered is a problem???? REALLY???? Metered prisms are never reliable nort accurate.. get a hand held meter!

Yes if it is a shot camera.. I mean can't be fixed.. then walk away. But if a CLA is all she needs n probably does.. GO FOR IT!

Many of these old pro cameras have been abandoned so now that they are turning up in the hands of amature cheap skates.... a CLA is not a death sentence!

Old taxi cabes ran for 500,000 miles. why? they got regualr maintenance whether it needed or not.. same is true for these cameras.. they go on till someone kills em with neglect.

I'll take it if the CLA is the worst part of the deal.

FUNGUS IS A DEAL BREAKER!

Sure it can be hand held. So can a refrigerator. Doesn't mean I want to do it. Sure it's workable for a while but if you MAINLY shoot handheld I at least would be happier with a smaller, lighter camera.

Metered prisms are never accurate? Nonsense. The AE Prism for my Mamiya 645 is as accurate as any of those in my 35mm cameras. Unless you were talking specifically about the ones for the RB? I can't speak to that.

I agree that old mechanical cameras last a long time and the price of a CLA wouldn't be a deal breaker for such an otherwise great deal though.

I have a complete outfit and assorted lenses. One word: heavy. After a day hand held, my arms were about to drop off. But at that price, I would still buy it! Talk about bang for your buck!

To talk me out of the following:

2x RB67 Pro S
50mm 4.5
90mm f3.8
180 f4.5
2x Polaroid backs
2x 220 and 120 backs
2x metered finders
2x WLF and a macro finder
30-50 refrigerator-kept rolls of 120 and 220 slide, BW and color

all for 450

I would be abandoning 35mm save for a compact Nikon prime, an EOS body and a Soviet rangefinder, and could probably pay for the entire thing by selling my Nikon kit which is all fast primes

...and go

Buy them now! You deserve them. You worked all you adult life to get things that other thought that they needed or wanted. Now is your turn to have what you want. When you take to $450 and divide it you the remaining days in your life, the cost is nothing.

The only thing that is important is that if you want it, will use in and enjoy it, then by all means you should have it.

I told my girlfriend about your situation and she said "What is he waiting for?"

If you wife disagrees, do not renew your contract with her. Just replace her with a newer model with lower mileage and less maintenance. You need to start enjoying the rest of your life!

Really? Are you Sirius?

I figured you would recommend putting the money towards a Hasselblad. :D

Not every one wants a Hasselblad. Since you want an RB 67 Pro S, you should get it.

I'm just kidding with you! I know how well you like Hasselblads.

I'm not the OP and I own a Hasselblad 500cm.

I have never owned an RB but used to shoot an RZ with 3 lenses. I loved the camera but I have a bad back and the Blad is a lot easier for me to carry around. If I'm setting up a tripod then I prefer large format.

Don't do it if it doesn't fit with what you like to shoot.

If the equipment is in good shape, it is a good price. If you can buy this and determine whether it suits your needs before you sell your Nikon stuff, then it is a good idea.

There, I tried .

Don't even think about that; this would be really throwing money away! Best thing to do is let your wife getting a CLA whilst you are shooting the RB, both happy

proud owner (with long arms)of a understanding wife and a RZ !

While I find it acceptable to ask others their opinion as to how good certain gear is, and knowing full well the condition of actual items depend on previous use, I never understand how anyone can ask others to give permission to purchase. Why?? Do you need to blame others if it doesn't work out for you? Are you fearful of taking any responsibility for your actions? Man up! look at all the angles, then make an informed decision. Then take ownership of the results.

The RB67 is a huge, bulky and difficult to use camera and there's a very good reason this package is so cheap. Your photos will be no better than what you currently get with your Nikon. Almost all that film will be severely fogged.

There. Did I talk you out of it?

hahahaha come on we have to make page 5 by this afternoon.

Never ask your wife if you can buy anything unless it is a dress for her!

Seriously.. this is a camera.. a dark box to hold film n take picture. How it operates is another stry adn this one happens to be different than most... double cocking, bellos focusing, revolving film back, has many accessories n lenses to choose from.. it was a beautiful studio camera although many use it in the field with amzing results..

The negatives it will BLOW YOUR 35mm out of the water n make that Nikon look like a little toy next to this bruzer tonka truck. It will feel like a cinder block in your hands the first times you use it.. but with use it all becomes second nature n you will wonder how you ever put up with the crappy results of your old 35mm.

If you want something smaller n more nimble get a 645 for the same $450.. less options n lenses in a kit for that price though... and you will also be looking at the same CLAs anyway.. shot seals n glass needing to be cleaned.

If you can get it at a price that will make a CLA reasonable, get it!

A good camera with a fresh CLA, is a wonderful thing.

Dunno. Throw the paperweight parts away and re-evaluate.

Polaroids - gone.
220 backs - gone or will soon be
Ever use a metered finder on an RB? Not to my liking - gone.

Then realize the light seals will probably need redoing in the remaining backs.
If the bodies were wedding photographers tools, they can be quite worn. The fiddly little parts of the rotating back plate can need a bit of coercing. Worn interlocks are a PITB.
Chances are at least one lens needs a CLA.

If it were my 450, it would wind up looking more like a used 4x5. Or a new to me M series lens for my 8x10.

And yes, I have a ProS with all those lens and more. (50,65,90,127,150SF, and 180).

Just my opinion,

Buy it if you will use it

Don't buy it if you're just going to get it because it is a "good deal"

And FWIW I prefer my RZ67 to my 501CM

Polaroid is not gone - well it is but the Fuji instant films are great and work fine in the backs. How long they will be around us anyone's guess of course.

My only gripe with polaroids on the RB67 is how small the pictue is.. not even a 6x6! That sucks big time n wonder why they never used a larger gate?

Paul, I hear ya! I have the same gripe with my RZ. I get jealous when I see full use of the polaroid on something like the 600se or other bodies.
