As it happens, today is Blue Moon Camera's 15% discount Friday, and HP5+ is their choice this week, so you can buy a 35mm roll of it for $9.34 today: https://bluemooncamera.com/shop/search?keywords=ffhp5&in-stock=true
Currently, this is as good as prices get for Ilford films here in the USA. I just bought a box of it in 5x7.
But it turns out that their sale price is the lowest around at the moment.
Correction: it appears that B&H has matched those prices for today only, FWIW.
I don't usually complain about the price of film - to me, the cost of film is relatively low compared to the amount of pleasure I get from film-based photography. But I couldn't help but notice that the price of Ilford HP5+ has gone up pretty significantly in the last several months. The last time I bought it I paid $8.95 for a roll of 36 exposure 35mm HP5+. I just looked today and the same roll is $10.99, up more than 20%.
I switched to HP5 after the price of Tri-X went through the roof a couple of years ago. Ironically, today a roll of Tri-X is down to $8.99, so it's become the more economical of the two films.
I admire Ilford's dedication to black and white film photography and have become a big fan of HP5+ since switching to it. I just hope that Ilford can keep it priced reasonably and doesn't start to lose market share to other film manufacturers like Kodak, who seem to have found a way to actually bring down the prices of their black and white film.
