Yashica T3 lcd protective cover?

So I picked up a Yashica T3 for dirt cheap. It is missing the protective cover for the LCD/WLF.
Wondering what material would be good for a makeshift cover? As I dont think there is a good way to get the official part without taring apart another body which I want to avoid.

How thick is it? Could you cut a piece of plastic from a CD Jewel Case and trim to fit? It probably won't be as scratch resistant as the original.
