Hi guys, just got a Yashica 35gsn. Would like to ask few questions :

1) In any other light conditions, objects, or any places, the two bulbs (over and slow) is always on when I pressed the shutter softly. is it normal?
2) in any other asa/speed setting (1000 or 25) the shutter open/shut is depending on the shutter button pressing. If I pressed, its open, and closed when I release it. Is it normal?
3) I hope this is normal, or maybe just a mechanical problem.

Go to http://www.butkus.org/chinon/yashica/yashica_electro_35_gsn/yashica_electro_35_gsn.htm and download the the language version of the instruction manual that you are familiar with then work through the manual checking operation of the camera with the manual. The only time a shutter should open with the press of the shutter button then close with the release of the shutter button is when the shutter is set to B (bulb).
Reading through the manual the too much light and too little light arrows shoukd not come on at the same time.
The shutter is electronically controlled. The camera requires a Mercury battery which were discontinued years ago. Alkaline batteries do not function well as replacements in this type of camera, silver oxide batteries are OK. Without a sutible battery don't expect the camera to function properly.
