With film in the camera, is the rewind knob of a Yashica Lynx 14 supposed to move?

When I have film in the camera, the film rewind knob does not always stay down.

There is play in the rewind knob when winding winding to the next frame.

Please check the photo. I can pull up the rewind knob with film in the camera. The rewind knob is also loose with film in the camera.

Is a Lynx 14 supposed to work like that?

Thank you for any help you may offer.

No. The rewind know should not pop up on its own. On most cameras the rewind knob moves when advancing the film. That is how one knows that the film has been loaded into the take up spool properly and is advancing correctly.
