I was loading a film into my Yashica Electro Professional (the original one, ASA only goes to 400.) I realized the shutter lock was on (i.e. the ring around the shutter button was rotated to the lock position) so I couldn't fire the shutter. I turned the lock to open, but this time it didn't feel quite the same. And now the shutter won't fire at all. The lock is stuck on. I've tried wiggling and jiggling the lock to no avail.

Is the shutter lock getting stuck common? Is there a simple remedy? Or do I have to tear down the top plate of the camera and see what's up?

i repaired a pad of death and took the top plate off more times than i care to remember on my electro G. you will find it very easy if its a similar set up, from memory the lock button has a few rotating "circlip" kinda things to lock, which i imagine could become loose depending on circumstances. or was your model with the exposed winder spring which uncoiled as soon as you opened it?

That's good to hear. I haven't tackled the job yet, so I don't know what I will find about the winder spring. But my model is early (with ASA 400.) I'll watch for the spring...

may as well check your pad while you are there, i managed to do it without dismantling the entire thing
